This indenture, made this twentieth day of July, in the year of our Lord, one thousand, eight hundred and seventy-one between John Henry of River John, in the County of Pictou, Esquire, Merchant, and Christopher Langill of Mountain Road, River John, in the County of Pictou, aforesaid, Farmer.

Whereas the said Christopher Langill in and by a certain Indenture of Mortgage bearing date the seventeenth day of May A.D. 1867 and recorded in the Office of the Registry of Deeds for the County of Pictou bargained, sold, aliened, enfeoffed and confirmed unto the said John Henry a certain lot or piece or parcel of land situate at Mountain Road, River John in the County of Pictou aforesaid and more fully described in the above mentioned mortgage. Now this Indenture witnesseth that the said John Henry for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars of good and lawful money of Nova Scotia to him in hand paid by said Christopher Langill hath released and confirmed and by these presents both remise, release, enfeoff and confirm unto the said Christopher Langill that lot of land situated at Mountain Road, River John aforesaid all and singular of the premises claimed and described in the aforesaid mortgage and more fully described as follows.

Beginning in the center of the Mill Brook where the same cropes the western side line of lands owned by Matthew Langill, deceased, thence upstream along the center of said book until it intersects the east side line of lands formerly owned by George Smith, thence south along the said side line five chains to the southeast corner of said Smith's lands, thence west along the same fourteen chains and fifty links to a hemlock stump at the northeast angle of Abram Langill's lot, thence south two chains and twenty-five links to a hemlock tree, thence south eighty-two degrees east eighteen chains and seventy-five links to the southern side of a certain gate post on the northwest side of the Mountain Road, thence south thirty-six degrees west along said road eight chains and fifty links to a stake on the north boundary line of Archibald Langill's lot, thence east along said boundary line eighteen chains and thirty-eight links to said western side line of said Mathew Langill's lot and thence north along said last mentioned line twenty-one chains to the place of beginning containing forty acres, more or less, together with all and singular the privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversions and remainders, rents, issues and profits thereof.

To have and to hold the same to the said Christopher Langill, his heirs and assigns forever.

In witness whereof the party to these presents hereunto his hand and seal subscribed and set the day and the year first above mentioned.
