William Berry was born about 1770 in North Carolina. The surname of his wife, Nancy (born ca 1767/72, also in North Carolina), is unknown, but it may have been Williams. The known children of William and Nancy were William Berry, Jr. (married Mary Ann Stephenson) and Morgan Berry (married Elizabeth Foust). William Berry, and his sons, were in Blount Co., Alabama in August 1819 where William Senior is recorded purchasing land. On 26 December 1839, William and his son, Morgan, acquired Third Class Headrights in San Augustine, Texas. William and Nancy Berry are recorded on the 1850 US Census in Anderson Co., Texas. On the 1860 US Census, they were living in Jackson Parish, Lousiana, ages 97 and 93, respectively.
