The following handwritten note appears at the end of 1839:
In consequence of the vacancy in the Office of Session Clerk - a
misunderstanding had arisen between Mr. McCubbin and the Kirk Officer by which the list of Marriages and Deaths for 1839
were wholly forgotten to be taken down and therefore cannot be registered
