From Gary W. Rogers: I have in my possession a very old, and quaint picture of my grandmother (Lorene Gertrude Culpepper) as a child, taken sitting in an old fashioned washbasin in front of her mother's long victorian dress. This picture was taken at the old Culpepper homestead in Section, Alabama, as there were terrible inlfuenza outbreaks that were killing many citizens of the era, and her mother was afraid she might not live. The picture was made at the home place in Section/Macedonia, Alabama in 1906/7. The picture was originally in the home of her mother and father, Columbus Franklin Culpepper and wife Mary Ann Morton, for many many years. I inherited and treasure this piece of the Culpepper family lore of Sand Mountain, Alabama.4
