DNA* Genealogical research shows that Prentiss is a descendant of William Ebenezer Culpepper who is believed to have born out of wedlock to Santilla Culpepper. A Y-DNA test of one descendant of William Ebenezer shows no direct paternal relation to other Culpeppers. However, there probably is a blood relationship of members of this branch to the mainline Culpeppers through their mother, Santilla.

Biography* Tracy Hargrave Simpson wrote in July 2000:
     Great grandpa William Hargrave lived outside Eldorado in Saline Co., occupation farmer. Married Delilah "Lila" Culpepper. Their children Mary Alice Hargrave Bundy McGill (born Dec 4, 1911) & James Ebb Hargrave, my grandpa (born Aug 16, 1913; died Mar 25, 1992). He Married Martha Elizabeth Pemberton. Their children Gary A. Hargrave (my dad), Nancy Hargrave Schnierle, Robin E Hargrave Lynch. Looking for info about Great-grandpa's family, great-grandma's family both sides of family.
     Lila's sister, Lula Culpepper, married Will's brother Charles. Their kids were Arthur (died in infancy) , Velda & Clyde Hargrave.
     Parents of Will & Charles are James Ebb Hargrave born 1861, died 1950, & Mary Coffee (spelling may be Coffey) born November 8, 1863 died May 14, 1899. Both are buried in Durham Cemetary, Long Branch Twp, Saline County, IL.

Tracy wrote again in July 2008:
     Mary Alice Hargrave Bundy McGill died 9 May 2006 and was buried Durham Cemetary, next to her parents, Will and Lila Culpepper Hargrave.
     Blake Arnold Hargrave, born 4 Aug 1999, died 28 Mar 2007, and burried in Clinton Memorial Lawn Cemetary in Clinton, Iowa, next to his grandfather, Gary Arnold Hargrave. Blake was the great great grandson of Will and Lila.2 
Descendant*September 2011 Jane Snider Johnson would like to make contact with some of her Uncle Bill and Aunt Delilah's grandchildren or great-grandchildren. (Jane is the daughter of Martha Charlotte Pulliam Snider, daughter of Martha Elizabeth Hargrave Pulliam, sister of William Hargrave who married Delilah Culpepper.)6
