COLUMBUS, GA--Edward C. Culpepper 88, of Columbus died Sunday, August 17, 2008 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel. Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 19, 2008 in Parkhill Cemetery with Reverend Hank Reeves officiating. The family will receive friends Monday evening, August 18, 2008 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Mr. Culpepper was born November 11, 1919 in Henry County, AL to the late Curtis and Clara Culpepper. He was a Freewill Baptist by faith and retired from Birdsey Super Market as a meat cutter after 34 years of service. Survivors include his loving wife, Lucy Culpepper of Columbus, GA; one son, Roy Culpepper and his wife, Kathryn of Smith Station, AL; one daughter, Patsy Redmond and her husband, George of Marietta, GA; four grandchildren, Kimberly Love and her husband, Jeff of Marietta, GA, Karen Haggerty and her husband, Steve of Melbourne, FL, Clara Culpepper of Atlanta, GA, and Ward Culpepper of Smith Station, AL; three great grandchildren, Josh and Jordan Love both of Marietta, GA, and Jack Haggerty of Melbourne, FL; two brothers, Marvin Culpepper of Abbeville, AL, and Clarence Culpepper of Eufaula, AL. Columbus, Georgia- Ruben "R.P." Culpepper, 91, of Columbus, Georgia, died Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Columbus Hospice. He lived in Cataula, GA 31 years before returning to Columbus living the remainder of his life.
     Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel 4071 Macon Road Columbus, Georgia. Reverend Vernon Prather and Reverend Ray Boutwell will officiate. Private interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the grandsons.
     Mr. Culpepper was born September 12, 1919 in Abbeville, AL the son of the late Oscar & Ethel Culpepper. He was a self employed contractor and owner of RP Culpepper Contracting Company. He was Baptist by faith attending Emmanuel Baptist Church, Cataula, GA and Kirkland Memorial Baptist Church Columbus, GA.
     Other than his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Rose Culpepper, brothers, Henry, Billy and William Culpepper and a great-grandson, Andrew R Culpepper.
     Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years Jeanette Hand Culpepper of Columbus, GA; sons, Harold Culpepper (Teena) of Hamilton, GA, Wayne Culpepper (Alda) of Columbus, GA, Joe Culpepper (Vicki) of Cataula, GA, Roger Culpepper (Diane) of Pine Mountain, GA; daughters, Wanda Boutwell (Ray) of Kenai, Alaska, and Debra Woodrum (Gerald) of Columbus, GA; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one brother, Frank Culpepper (Kathleen) of Valdosta, GA; four sisters, Betty Tant of Columbus, GA, Frances Stevens (Steve)of Ellerslie, GA, Lucy Brownell (Carl) of Ellerslie, GA and Dorothy Parker (Jake) of Valdosta, GA.

Archie Gilbert Culpepper, born to Maude Grundy Culpepper Gentry on May 24, 1910 in Vernon, Texas. He was the only boy of six children, five sisters: Amy, Hazel, Wynnona, all deceased, Zula Osborne of Texas and Jimmy Mc Craken of Texas, both surviving.
     He left Texas at the age of eight after his father, James Albert Culpepper drowned saving his uncle. His mother, Maude, remarried and moved the family to Altas, Oklahoma.
     At the age of 21, Archie married Ora Oleta Scroggins in 1931. They were married 16 years. Archie was a farmer and built bridges for the WPA for a dollar a day during the Depression. Archie and Oleta had a total of five children born in Oklahoma: Dorotha Louise Lawson of Hesperia, Dorma Lee Lemaster (Wayne) of Missouri, Bobby Gilbert Culpepper (Alice) of Fontana, and Jimmy Charles Culpepper (Patty) of Claremont. They then moved to Pomona, California and had one more child, Hershal Eugene Culpepper (Peggy) of Upland.
     While in California, Archie worked as a mechanic at Graber Olives, but spent most time at Citrus Heights Orange Packing House in Corona, Narod (now known as Montclair) and Claremont.
     In 1951, Archie married Sybil Reddick Wilkerson and became the stepfather to three more boys: Fred Quincy (deceased), Jerry Lee Wilkerson (Linda) of Hesperia and James Robert "Butch" Wilkerson (Pat) of Arkansas. Archie and Sybil were married 25 years. Archie was widowed in 1976.
     Archie married again in 1977 to Jesse Bryant and became stepfather to four more children, Sam Bryant and Tiny Webster, both deceased, Bill Bryant (Pat) of Alta Loma and Benny Northrup (Larry) Oakhurst, CA.
     Archie retired from the Corona Packing House in 1986. Archie and Jesse were married for 20 years. Archie was widowed once more in 1997. In addition to Archie's children, he is survived by 28 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren (you can thank "Bobby" for that!) and 20 great-great grandchildren.
     In Archie's early years, he loved to dance at Foreman Phillips Barn Dance in Baldwin Park. Archie was a baseball fan and the Dodgers were his team, and he loved to play Dominos.
     Services will be held at the Central Baptist Church, Pomona Monday, August 2, 2004. Private entombment will be made at Pomona Valley Memorial Park Mausoleum. Todd Memorial Chapel, Pomona is in charge of arrangements.¹

Jimmie Albert Culpepper McCracken, 96, formerly of Odessa,Texas died July 30, 2015 in Midland, Texas. She, the sixth surviving child, was born to Maude and James A. Culpepper on September 16, 1918 in Vernon,Texas. Her father drowned in a lake accident a month before her birth. Jimmie graduated from Altus, Oklahoma High School and moved in with a sister in Portales, New Mexico. There she met a Texas Technological College student J.D. McCracken. They married September 1, 1939. When WWII broke out, he joined the military and she followed him around the U.S. In 1944, they had son Lonnie Dean McCracken in Mississippi. After the war ended, they settled in Odessa, Texas. Daughter Rikki Ann McCracken Upton was born in 1952. Eight years later, Jimmie went to work for the American Red Cross. Several years later she became a clerk for the Texas Welfare Department. She retired in 1990 after 21 years of service. She has also owned and operated a print shop, and been a dance instructor, teaching ballroom, country, and line dancing. She had the dance troupe The High Stepping Grannies for years, giving performances at regional, state, and local fairs and events. Jimmie is preceded in death by her parents Maude and James Culpepper, husband J.D. McCracken, ten siblings, beloved in- laws Jessie and Lon L. McCracken, sister-in-law Etta Ann Smith, and many other relatives. Jimmie is survived by son Lonnie Dean McCracken and wife Lyn of New Braunfels, Texas; daughter Rikki Ann Upton and husband Randall of Midland, Texas; grandson Jeff McCracken and wife Monica of Buda, Texas; grandson Christopher Upton and wife Brandi of Keller, Texas; grandson Benjamin Upton and wife Jackie of Odessa, Texas; great grandchildren Connor McCracken, Kensie McCracken, Meredith Upton, Caitlyn Upton, Mallory Upton, and Jeremy Weathermon. She also leaves siblings Ruth and Christine, and many nieces and nephews. Graveside interment will be held August 3, 2015, 9:30am, at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 6801 E I20BUS, Odessa, Texas. Memorial services will be August 14, 2015, 2:00 pm, First Presbyterian Church, 800 West Texas, Midland, Texas, Chaplain, Chris Hagger officiating. The family wishes to thank Jimmie's special nurse Dawn Lopez, RN, Chaplain Chris Hagger, and the other caring staff of Compass Hospice, and the many wonderful staff at Legacy Ranch Alzheimer's Care Facility who cared for Jimmie the past four years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Compass Hospice, 3001 W Illinois, Ste. 3A, Midland, Texas 79701 or Legacy Ranch, 4800 Briarwood Ave., Texas 79707. Services are entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Director.⁷
