Obituary* | 1 July 2009 | Mr. Calvin Lamar Culpepper of Coffee Springs passed away Monday, June 29, 2009, at Flowers Hospital. He was 88. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at the First Baptist Church, Coffee Springs, with the Rev. Douglas Green officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Memorial Park in Enterprise with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service time. Mr. Culpepper was born April 24, 1921, in Coffee Springs to the late M. W. and Lessie Lewis Culpepper. He was retired from Smith Brothers Construction Co. of Geneva as a foreman. Mr. Culpepper was a lifelong resident of Coffee Springs, member of the First Baptist Church of Coffee Springs, where he was an honorary deacon. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary V. Culpepper of Coffee Springs; one daughter, Marcy and Michael Helgeson of Enterprise; one sister, Mary Charles and Harold Holland, Decatur; two grandsons, Cade Helgeson and Jake Helgeson of Enterprise. Obituary* | 22 October 1998 | PASS CHRISTIAN -- Mr. John Joseph Culpepper, 69, of Pass Christian, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998, in Gulfport. Mr. Culpepper was a native of Oak Grove, Louisiana, and a resident of the Coast for over 50 years. He was a commercial fisherman. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Suzette Culpepper. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Alma and Paul Liles and Jacqueline and Ai Vo, all of Biloxi, and Mollie and Mohammed Hanif Khan of New York, New York; his ex-wife, Margie Bell Culpepper of Long Beach; and seven grandchildren. A closed memorial prayer service will be held Friday morning for family members and grandchildren at Gulf Coast Seventh-Day-Adventist Church in Woolmarket. Mr. Culpepper will be lovingly missed by his daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren. The family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society, 182-A DeBuys Road, Biloxi, MS 39531. Riemann Funeral Home, 25th Avenue, Gulfport, is in charge of arrangements.4 |
