Survived by his daughters, Robin Redditt (Lee), Kim Meissner (Barry), Tracy Barber; and son, Jay Culpepper; 8 grandchildren, Ryan Kayse, Ohm Culpepper, Fallon Gavin, Devin Meissner, Emily Barber, Naomi Sullivan, Lindsey Culpepper, and Jordan Culpepper; and 11 greatgrandchildren.
Mr. Culpepper served in the Navy and Marine Corps, and retired from the US Airforce. He served in World War II, Korean and Vietnam Wars.
He was a past member of the Lions Club, Bay Port Aero Club, and the American Pilots Association.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Liberty Harbour View Campus, 7025 Harbour View Blvd., Suffolk.4 |

Richard was a United States Navy veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict and a graduate of Old Dominion University. Richard was a long time member and Deacon at First Baptist Church of Aurantia and later attended Park Avenue Baptist Church. He was a chaplain for the Disabled American Veterans, a volunteer mediator for the courts and loved to travel with the love of his life, Patsy, whom he survived.
Richard was an accomplished electrical engineer, working for AT&T in various executive level capacities for 25 years before retiring to Titusville in 1989. Richard was an early adaptor with computers, often writing software to help make his life more organized. Richard was an inventor and held patents along with his father, Abner Almond Culpepper. Richard was a Master Gardner and loved to work on his yard.
He is survived by his daughters Elizabeth Culpepper-Landers, Karen Cochran and Patricia Culpepper, stepdaughter Adriene Landrum, stepson David Furukawa, stepson Don Furukawa,
Grandchildren Kevin, Connor, Kelly, Kate, Ben, Brittany, Cody, Julie, Tina, brothers John and James Culpepper. His family knows that he had an unconditional love and faith in them. Though he may have departed us, the legacy he left behind for us will never be forgotten.3 |
