James W. Ruffer

M, (say 1849 - )
Birth*say 1849 James was born say 1849.
Marriage*circa 1870 He married Alice (?) at Kentucky circa 1870.1
1900 Census*1 June 1900 James was listed as the head of a family on the 1900 Census at Meridian, Lauderdale Co., Mississippi.1
Biography* The following is taken from one of the footnotes in my family's genealogy. I found the resource at one of the Mormon Family Libraries. The spelling of the family name appears to have changed when my progenitors immigrated from Switzerland to northwest Ohio in the 1830's, although both spellings Rufer/Ruffer can be found in Switzerland, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Russia, among others, today. I've been successful in tracking my line of Ruffers back to 1550 in Jegenstorf, Switzerland.

Information in this genealogy/lineage is taken from a xerox copy of the data contained on a microfilm (Europe Film Area 1181531, Item 4) of the book entitled, Rufer family of Mattstetten, Urtenen, Zuswil, parish of Jegenstorf and Egli family of Trub, Bern, Switzerland, authored by Julius Billeter (1869-1957), and published by Winterthür:Selbstverlag, 1915.
