My Father, Joseph Seaborn Culpepper, sent Doctor Anderson of Miami to Seattle to buy and learn how to use the then new system for keeping Kidney patients alive. The company that made the machine was actually an ice-cream machine manufacturer. Bobby survived with this machine from age 12 until his death at 23. Little was known about blood chemistry and bobby helped advance the knowledge and paved the way for the modern kidney dialysis systems of today. Joseph and Edith were very instrumental in the early formation of the Artificial Kidney Foundation of Florida."1
