Death*14 July 1911 She died at Tupelo, Jackson Co., Arkansas, on 14 July 1911 at age 67
James Logan Morgan sent a copy of the obituary to Judy Thornton Turner in May 1979. Newport WEEKLY INDEPENDENT -"Tupelo News"- Fri. - Aug. 14, 1911, page 5, col. 2: Judy evidently obtained a copy as it was shared with Nancy Sevier in a packet of information from Maxine, Judy's sister. " Mrs. H. Thornton died at her home on the 19th of inflammation. She was sixy-seven years of age and had lived in the home where she died twenty-nine years. She was loved and reverenced by all who knew her for her honesty and purity. Her life was an example none need blush to follow. She had been a member of the Methodist church since girlhood and was ever ready to extend a helping hand to those in need. She knew her end was near and spoke of it several times to her daughter, but had no fears. She bore her suffering with Christian fortitude. Her body was laid to rest in the family graveyard, where in life she spent many moments in beautifying the graves of her loved ones who had gone on before. She leaves two daughters and four sons to miss that dear and loving mother. Oh, what is home without a mother! Fare well dear mother until we meet you up yonder. Happy Jim " Mr. Logan wrote that a copy could be obtained at the Dean B. Ellis Library, Arkansas State University."

She lived within three mile radius of the Tupelo Methodist Church as did several of her sons and their families. 1900- Census, Harriet is 55 with Tommie, Leon and Ona. 1910 Census- She was living with her son, Tommy, and his wife Willie. If she had lived in the same house for 29 years then the children had lived with her and she would have moved into that house in 1882.4
