Name-Comm | | Her was commonly known as Mandy Culpepper. |
Birth | 22 April 1864 | She was born on 22 April 1864 at Lee Co., Alabama. |
Birth* | 22 February 1866 | Martha was born at Chattahoochee Co., Georgia, on 22 February 1866. From Susan Tompkins: In the obituary for Martha Amanda 'Mandy' Culpepper Ford it lists her birth date as 22 APR 1864 and in Lee County, AL. This cannot be correct. I know my great grandmother, and Mandy's sister Mary Louisa was born on 08 MAR 1864 in Chattahoochee County, GA. I KNOW this date is correct and they could not have been born a month apart. :) Mandy's headstone has 22 FEB 1866 and I believe this to be the correct date as it falls right in line with them having a baby every two years. Also, they were listed on the 1870 Census in Chattahoochee County, Georgia. This means Mandy would have been born there and not Lee County, Alabama.1,2 |
(household member) 1870 Census | 1 June 1870 | Mariah, George, Martin, Mary, Martha and Alice listed as a household member living with William Thomas A. L. Culpepper on the 1870 Census at Chattahoochee Co., Georgia.1 |

Mother was born and raised in a house on the corner of 15th Street and 18th Avenue and most of these aunts lived within walking distance - except Sallie. Aunt Sallie lived out at Crawford near the old home place of William and Mary and also the cemeteries where a good many of them and their extended families are buried.3 |
