Uncle Charlie was married twice. His first wife was Aunt Nan's sister (JosieTucker). She died when their second child was born. The baby died also. The oldest child, a little girl, died when 5 years old. He later married a 4th cousin of ours Ruby Blackman. They had 5 children. Uncle Charlie died May 1931. His wife died a few years later. His children are Floyd Marshall, Luther Littleton, Carlton Milburn, Leroy Stephen, and Ollie Grace. All live up around Fort Worth, Texas, except Carlton who is making the service his life work.

Aunt Mattie has 12 children. I don't know all of their married names so will just give first names. 1. Sena, 2. Fannie, 3. Rudy (Mrs. Arch McLester) Rockport, TX, 4. Evalina, 5. Jessie, 6. Clifford, 7. Woodrow, 8. Rose Lee, 9. Gladys, 10. Mary, 11. Ester. One died when it was a baby. All were raised at Rockport, Texas. (Aunt Mattie's husband would tell a story that when he was young that he was with a mule train that was transporting gold from Galveston to Corpus Christi and they were about to be over taken by a troop of Mexicans, so they buried the gold. The coast markings changed and they were unable to find any land marks to recover it. Everyone thought it was a good tale, but about four years before he died an old Mexician came to his house and they spent a summer looking for the gold without success.)

The following is excerpted from Part II of a ledger left by Josie Mary Culpepper Wilson Burger for her children, October 21, 1957:
Aunt Minnie was married to Burl Tucker (Aunt Nan?s brother). He died three years after they were married. She had 2 children. The girl died when 5 years old from a concussion and the boy drowned when he was 14 in the Colorado River at Wharton. (They were on a family outing and they were wading in about 4 inches of water when he stepped into a 25 foot suck hole. Charles Wilson almost lost his life trying to save the young man. It took dynamite to dislodge the body.) She later married Charlie Thompson. They were together 18 years before he died, January 21, 1961. Aunt Minnie married 15 years after Mr. Thompson died. She married W. H. Baker, he only lived 9 months and she was a widow again. (She was is at rest next to Mr. Thompson in Victoria, Texas.)

He had lived in this community 11 days (stricken and replaced by ‘lifetime”). He was not a citizen of a foreign country. His occupation was listed as farmer, in the agriculture business. He was the widower of Susie (CULPEPPER) PATE. He was born 15 SEP 1858 in Chattahoochee County, Georgia, the son of John PATE [birth place not given] and Martha WEATHERS (birthplace unknown). The deceased was last seen alive by the attending physician on 03 JUL 1947 and died at 9:20 a.m. of coronary thrombosis, which had persisted for a duration of 3 days. The attending physician was B. RAINEY of Buena Vista [Marion County], Georgia, who signed on 07 JUL 1947. The registrar was Henry F. LOWE, and the certificate was filed on 05 JUL 1947. The person burying the body was B. G. PATE, who was also the informant, of R. 2, Juniper, Georgia. [This is Bartow Gordon PATE, Tom’s son.]

Daughter of William H. & Mary A. Louisa "Lousetta" (CULPEPPER) PICKREN. Married 10 DEC 1902 in Muscogee County, Georgia, to David Wesley CULPEPPER, her first cousin. No known issue. Died in Chipley, which is now called Pine Mountain, in Harris County, Georgia.

The Culpepper Connections website reports her birth date as 11 MAY 1860, but her grave monument shows her birth year as 1859.

"Local Deaths…MRS. QUEENIE CULPEPPER // Mrs. Queenie CULPEPPER, of 408 First avenue, Columbus, died at the home of Mrs. Walter HOPKINS in Chipley [now Pine Mountain, Harris County], Ga., at 9:45 o'clock this morning. Mrs. CULPEPPER had been ill for some time. She was born May 10, 1859, in Muscogee county. // She is survived by several nieces and nephews. // Funeral services will be conducted from the First avenue chapel of Britton and Dobbs at 10 o'clock Saturday morning. Interment will be in Riverdale cemetery." [Columbus (GA) Ledger newspaper, Thursday, 12 DEC 1940, p. 22.]

Per Georgia Death Index: Queenie CULPEPPER, White female, died 12 DEC 1940, aged 82 years, in Muscogee [sic] County, Georgia, death certificate #30750.

Per Britton & Dobbs Funeral Home Records, 1889-1971 (transcribed by Patsy Daniel Wright, 2010), p. 1014: Mrs. Queenie CULPEPPER, residing at Chipley, Ga., died 12 DEC 1940, aged 81 years, 7 months, and 2 days, of chronic nephritis (physician ELLIS); buried 14 DEC 1940 in Riverdale Cemetery.⁷
