Obituary* | 17 June 1936 | Richmond Times Dispatch, Richmond, VA, James F. Culpepper, 76, a life-long resident of Deep Creek, died Saturday night at his residence there. He was affiliated with the George W. Culpepper & Son Mercantile firm in Deep Creek.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, J. Howard Culpepper of Deep Creek; four daughters, Mrs. H. O. Rainey of Chatham, Va; Mrs. O. W. Pebworth of Bramwell, W. Va., and Misses Sarah and Jessie Culpepper of Deep Creek; a brother, John F. Culpepper of Deep Creek, and three grandchildren.
Mr. Culpepper was a member of the board of trustees of Deep Creek Baptist Church.10 |

Miles enlisted in the Virginia Rangers as a private on Feb 2, 1862 at Camp Pemberton and served in Company A, 7th Battalion, Virginia. The company transferred on Apr 20, 1862 to Company A, 3rd Virginia Infantry, Pickett's Division (Dismal Swamp Rangers). On Aug 8, 1862 the Company once again transferred as Company A, 61st Virginia Infantry. The 61st Virginia saw action in 25 different battles. Death records indicate that Miles died from consumption. This was more than likely a result of exposure encountered during the war. |

Dr. Glover had 2 older siblings by his biological parents whose names were Harry Andrew Eden and Ella Mae (May) Vaughan Green, nee Eden. She was married twice, first to Solomon Vaughan and then to St. Clair Green. They all lived in Portsmouth, VA. Mary E. Eden was from Norfolk, VA. Harry Andrew Eden's parents names were Edward Eden and Elizabeth Eden from Philadelphia, PA. Mary E. Eden's parents names were Isaiah & Fanny Foreman, nee Culpepper. Dr. Glover, my grandfather, married my grandmother, Edith Lyle Glover, nee McConnal/McConnell. They had two children-my father, Robert Edward Glover and my aunt, Margaret Rose Rountree, nee Glover.
