Obituary*say 8 November 2010 Alvin Dee Ellis left his temporary home of 80 years for his eternal one on Sunday, November 7, 2010. Born March 15, 1930 in Wink, Texas, oldest of five children of Paul S. and Mazzie W. Ellis. After graduation from J. M. Tate in 1948, Alvin worked for St. Regis until joining the Army. He served as a medic during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning, continued to work for St. Regis/Champion until his retirement in 1990. On November 28, 1953, Alvin married his life partner Joyce Bernice Dalton. They were married three weeks short of 57 years. Alvin lived a life of gratitude to the Lord and testified by word and deed God's faithfulness in every circumstance. Alvin was a member of Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church since 1956, ordained deacon in 1992. He always served the Lord with gladness, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. His Godly example and enormous heart will be missed by his beloved wife, Joyce, his children, William Ellis, Sharon Boyd, Karen Landry and Linda McCaleb, his sons in law, Joe Landry and Roger McCaleb, his brothers, Charles E. Ellis and James R. Ellis, his sisters, Paula Nighbert and Margaret Sanders, his brothers in law, Maynard Nighbert and James Sanders, his sisters in law, Ella Claire Ellis and Geneva Ellis, brothers in law, Richard Dalton, Jack Dillard and Roy Levin, sisters in law, Cora Jean Dillard and Helen Levin, the light in his eyes, his grandchildren, Shylo, Chris and Nathan. His newest light, his great grandchild, Jolee Scout and many nieces, nephews and his fellow Christians at Little Flock.
Heaven's welcoming committee will include his father and mother, his grandchildren, Jessica Landry and Cpl. Joseph Landry, his nephews Gary Ellis and Paul Nighbert.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Charles Ellis, Elder Dawson Stanaland and Elder Jim Sanders officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery,
Serving, as pallbearers will be Charles E. Ellis, Chris Landry, Byron Sanders, Cody Ellis, Shane Ellis, Mike Blanton, Bob Sanders and Gerald Manning.
Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan McCaleb, Roger McCaleb, Joseph Landry, Listen Davidson and Virgil Myrick.
The family will receive friends at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, 1000 Highway 29 South Cantonment on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
A special thank you for all your prayers, God knows what is best for us all. His child of God is not suffering.
