Biography* | | Howard H. Pollock, 77, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at an Abilene medical center. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Elmwood Memorial Park directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Highway 277 South. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Howard was born the son of Julia C. (Culpepper) and H.A. (Red) Pollock on January 2, 1927, in Corsicana, Texas. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Gas Engineering from Texas A & I, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He first moved from Kingsville, Texas, to Abilene in 1950 to work in the oil and gas industry. Mr. Pollock was co-owner of American Mud Co. and owner of Brittany Drilling Co. both in Abilene. He married Wanda Spence on October 4, 1953, in Abilene. He was a loving husband, son, father, and grandfather. Mr. Pollock was a member of South Side Baptist Church, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was predeceased by his wife, Wanda Pollock, in 1995, and his parents. Survivors include his son, Michael Pollock of Abilene; his daughter, Laura Pollock Henson and husband, Lee, of Abilene; grandchildren, Lexi Henson and Liz Henson both of Abilene; and nephews, Keith Spence and Ted Spence. Memorials may be made to West Texas Rehabilitation Center, 4601 Hartford, Abilene, TX 79605. |
