"Bill" Culpepper, age 83, of Robinson, IL passed away Saturday, October 31, 2009, 9:42 pm at St. Anthony's Hospital, Effingham, IL, following a battle with lung cancer. He was born November 29, 1925 in West Frankfort, IL to Charles William Culpepper and Ruth Jane (Menees) Culpepper. He married L. June (Brewer) May 9, 1953 who passed away in 1982. He married Betty L. (Wisdom) August 27, 1983, she survives. Bill was a retired transport driver for Marathon Oil Company. Retired in 1982. He worked part time as a Walmart Greeter for 14 years until ill health forced complete retirement. He was "Santa Claus" at Walmart for 8 years before becoming a greeter. Bill was Pepper the Clown with the Krazy Klown Unit, Crawford County Shrine Club. He also served as an alderman for the City of Robinson for two terms. Bill was a WWII U. S. Marine veteran, a member of the First Baptist Church, Oblong, IL, AF & AM 250, Robinson Masonic Lodge, Robinson, IL; Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Danville, Danville, IL and a former member of AINAD Shrine Temple, East St. Louis, IL and Krazy Klowns Unit of Crawford County Shrine Club. Bill is survived by his wife Mrs. Betty L. Culpepper of Robinson, IL; sons: Mr. Kevin McCall of Robinson, IL, Mr. Kevin McCall of Robinson, IL; daughters: Mrs. Billie Jane & Gary Wyant of Benton, IL, Ms. Kathy Irby of Robinson, IL, Mrs. Karen "Pepper" Rardin of Robinson, IL, Mrs. Betsy Miller of Woodridge, IL; sister: Mrs. Kathryn Bolin of West Frankfort, IL; 8 grandchildren & spouses: Patrick & Millie Raridin, Brian & Holly Wyan, Travis & Kimmy Wyant, Justin & Misty Wyant, Shauna Miller, Bethany Miller; Sarah & Josh Harlan; David McCall; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 nieces and 1 nephew. Kathryn was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an excellent cook, talented seamstress, and master quilt-maker, and loved sharing these gifts with her family and friends. Above all else, she was a daily servant of her Heavenly Father. She is survived by: her son, Don (Jeanne) Bolin of Canton, TX, her daughters, Sharon (Charles) Russell of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Mary Susan (Harry) Gibson of Watertown, WI; seventeen grandchildren: Steve (Christa) Russell, Melinda (Randy) Haldi, Alison (Andrew) Arnatt, Joseph (Kelli) Bolin, Jacob (Wesley) Gibson, Benjamin (Julie) Bolin, Kathryn Gibson, Laura (Ryan) Bass, Joy (Josh) Harris, Meredith (Jon) Spiegelhoff, John (Paige) Bolin, David Bolin, Noah Gibson, Daniel (Caysi) Bolin, Oliver Gibson, Faith Bolin, and Peter Gibson; and twenty great grandchildren: Gabriel Russell, Susana Bolin, Kaelyn Haldi, Abigail Russell, Samuel Arnatt, William Bolin, Kyleigh Haldi, Olivia Arnatt, Elisabeth Bolin, William Gibson, Kara Haldi, Timothy Harris, Nina Gibson, Grace Kathryn Bolin, Mary-Caroline Bolin, Don Edward Bolin, Sigrid Spiegelhoff, Josiah Harris, Nora Gibson, and Amos Bolin. Kathryn is predeceased by: her parents, husband, E. Edward Bolin, her brother Bill Culpepper, and her granddaughter, Molly Kathryn Bolin. The family would like to especially thank the staff at the Golden Living Center in Beaver Dam, WI, for their love and care during Kathryn's illness. A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Parker-Reedy Funeral Home of West Frankfort, IL. Visitation will be Wednesday from noon until the time of service at the funeral home. She will be buried next to her husband at Tower Heights Cemetery of West Frankfort following the service.6 |
