Edward Culpepper (1863 - 1951) of Bibb County, GA. He is ID #35627, son of Joseph Richard Culpepper and Sarah Malvina Dean. It seems improbable and unlikely that he was the same person.3

Marriage*4 February 1915 She married Medie G. Gentry at Covington Co., Mississippi, on 4 February 1915. Bertha was only thirteen when she married. She was an orphan, lived with a relative, and her father had deeded her 160 acres before he disappeared from the county.

Bertha is found in 1920 living next door to Hamilton Cooper Rutland, Mary's father, and in 1930 her youngest son is named Matthew. I am thinking that she named a son after her father, after the death of H. C.3,4,1 
Death*between 1966 and 1969 She died between 1966 and 1969. 
Biography* "Bertha died in the late 1960s. I was married to her son Matthew for 18 years (1952-1970). She named one of her sons Hamilton Cooper, Joel was another, and there is a Meddie Joe. Daughters are Elizabeth, Mabel and Estelle. Matthew now lives in Oklahoma."3

    That Matthew and Mary had a daughter, Bertha, is confirmed by the probate of Mary's brother's estate in 1927. William N. Rutland had 3 heirs. Richard Rutland, Frances Rutland and a neice, Bertha Gentry.
