Mr. Allen was born June 23, 1935, in Broughton to Frank and Loreen (Culpepper) Allen. He married Wanda N. (Chagnon) Allen April 4, 1954; she survives. Funeral services will be held 1 pm. Sunday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Charles Wall will officiate. Burial will follow at Hickory Hill Cemetery in Broughton. Friends may call from 11 a.m. Sunday until the service time at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
     Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Wanda N. Allen of Broughton; a daughter, Sheila Rae Smith of Broughton; three grandsons, Dustin Allen of Aurora, Donovan Smith of Aurora and Denzel Smith of Broughton; a great-grandchild, Alexis Allen of Coal City; and brothers and sisters James Eugene Allen and wife Linda of Moline, Robert Allen of Darien, Tessie E. Silva and husband Dean of Oak Forest and Shirley Swanson and husband Tom of West Chicago. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Allen. Obituary*2 October 2008 Mrs. Mattie Lou Culpepper, age 85, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2008, at her residence in Lawrence. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at Pine Ridge Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Larry Laird and Rev. Tommy Anderson officiated. Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Forest handled arrangements. Mrs. Culpepper was a native and a lifelong resident of Newton County. She was a member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church. Mrs. Culpepper was preceded in death by her husband, Conny Admiral Culpepper; son, Jimmy Dale Culpepper; daughter, Shirley Hollingsworth; her parents, Billy and Rosie Gibbs; two sisters, Ollie Crimm and Mary Lou Gibbs; and three brothers, Thomas Gibbs, Marvin Gibbs and Clarence Gibbs. Survivors include her four daughters, Jeanette Stephens and husband, Robert of Lawrence, Louise Morgan of Lawrence, Brenda Jones and husband, Ritchie of Pearl and Pam Pace of Lawrence; one son, David Culpepper and wife, Jo Ann of Lisman, AL; seventeen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, one great- great grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Glen Culpepper, Danny Stephens, Travis Stephens, Scotty White, Perry Luke, Mark Horn and Chris Morgan. Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Culpepper and Michael Culpepper.2

Obituary*7 February 2004 Jimmy Dale Culpepper, 60, of Magnolia, died Feb. 7, 2004, at Beacham Memorial Hospital in Magnolia.
     Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Forest. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery near Lake.
     Mr. Culpepper was a native of Lake and a graduate of East Central Community College and Mississippi State University. He worked for the United States Department of Agriculture for 32 years before retiring.
     Survivors include his wife, Patricia Culpepper; a daughter, Rex Anne Culpepper; two sons, John Culpepper and Michael Culpepper; a granddaughter, Elena Culpepper, all of Magnolia; his mother, Mattie Lou Culpepper of Lake; four sisters, Brenda Jones of Pearl, Jeanette Stephens of Lake, Pam Pace of Lake and Louise Morgan of Conehatta; a brother, David Culpepper of Butler, Ala; and a number of nieces and nephews.1 
Death*7 February 2004 He died at Magnolia, Pike Co., Mississippi, on 7 February 2004 at age 60.1,3 
Burial*8 February 2004 His body was interred on 8 February 2004 at Pine Ridge Missionary Baptist Cemetery, Lake, Scott Co., Mississippi.1,4
