Jo Zell was born on August 12 1937 to J.C. Culpepper & Alyne Terry in Bremond TX. Jo Zell married Lonnie Miles in Houston TX on Jan 31 1959.

Jo Zell was a kind and giving person who would freely give of her time, energy, money and substance to help people in any way – she lived her life trying to help others find their happiness, and she was not afraid to sacrifice of herself to bring a smile to others. Her children and grandchildren saw in her that she was a mother to all she met and an Angel to everyone who needed her. They describe her as their rock, their soul, and their guardian angel.

She spent 35 wonderful years married to the love of her life, Lonnie Miles. After Lonnie passed away in 1994, she spent the next 21 years spending her time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. She never took off her wedding ring, and stayed true to her wonderful husband and friend.

Jo Zell was a woman of many talents. She was a painter, and could make beautiful art with her brush. She was an avid gardener, and her garden was filled with pink roses and fresh vegetables. Ma-Ma (as she was called by her grandchildren) was an excellent cook, and they were always hungry for what came from her kitchen.

Jo Zell is preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Miles; and her parents, J.C. & Alyne Culpepper.

Jo Zell is survived by her son Lonnie Royce Miles (wife Marla); daughter Stephanie Dawn Busby (husband David); granddaughter Mara Miles Strother (husband Bradley); grandson Dallas Miles; granddaughter Mariah Jo Busby; grandson Miles Busby; and great-grandson Hunter Strother; as well as many other extended members, friends, neighbors, and loved ones.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to everyone who prayed for Jo Zell, who loved her, visited her, offered encouragement and light through the long journey of her illness.

Memorial considerations may be made to Chapelwood United Methodist Church or to support breast cancer research.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Dennis Terry, Doug Webb, Bret Jones, Kenny Terry, Rick Blackstock, and Alan Terry. Recognized as Honorary Pallbearers is Bradley Strother, David Busby, Dallas Miles, Miles Busby, and Paul Lambert.

Visitation will be held from 6pm until 8pm on Tuesday October 20 2015 at Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 300 Willow Drive Lake Jackson TX 77566.

Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Wednesday October 21 2015 at Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 300 Willow Drive Lake Jackson TX 77566.

Jo Zell Miles will be laid to rest at 2pm on Wednesday October 21 2015 in Restwood Memorial Park Cemetery, 1038 W. Plantation Drive, Clute TX 77531.5
