He is survived by his mother, Dominique Culpepper and George Custer of Corpus Christi; his father, William Culpepper of Corpus Christi; his daughters, Stephanie and Vanessa; his half-brother, Black Dog; and his longtime friend, Gloria Alvarado; grandparents, Beverly and Bobby Jones of Alabama; aunts, Dixie Beavers of Alabama, Noelle and her husband Iain Stewart of Alabama; uncles, Phillip Beavers of Alabama, Kenneth Schallhorn and Glen Schallhorn, both of Florida; numerous cousins and great-cousins. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Pell City. Graveside service will be conducted at noon Saturday, May 14, at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Obituary* | 22 February 2007 | TYLER, Texas — William Carr “Bill” Culpepper Jr., 61, of Tyler, Texas, formerly of Pine Bluff, died Feb. 16 at East Texas Hospice Center at Tyler. He was born June 28, 1945, at Pine Bluff, a son of the late William Carr Culpepper Sr. and Marguerite Locke Culpepper. He was employed by the East Texas Medical Center Regional Healthcare System at Tyler as corporate director of home services. He was a registered nurse and held a bachelor of science degree in health care management from the University of LaVerne at LaVerne, Calif., a bachelor of science in health sciences from George Washington University at Washington, D.C., and a master of health administration degree from Chapman University at Orange, Calif. He was also a certified home care executive. He served in the Navy from 1963 to 1983 as a hospital corpsman, including two years aboard the USS Rentz in the medical clinic, and in the Da Nang Hospital in Vietnam. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, the Navy Achievement Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Navy Unit Commendation Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and two Good Conduct Medals. He was a member of Good Faith United Methodist Church at Pine Bluff. Survivors include his wife, Trish Culpepper of Frankston, Texas; three daughters, Carrla Leszcynski of Denison, Texas, Anna Culpepper of Hawaii and Molly Gamino of Fort Belvoir, Va; one stepdaughter, Stacy Kelly of Minneapolis; two stepsons, Donny Kelly of Shreveport, La., and Jamie Kelly of San Diego; one brother, Bob Culpepper of Springdale; three sisters, Hattie Simpson of Fayetteville, and Maggi Wadsworth and Sue Trucks, both of Pine Bluff; and 11 grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Good Faith United Methodist Church at Pine Bluff with the Rev. George Odell officiating. Services are by Stewart Family Funeral Home of Tyler, Texas. Memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Texas 75701, or the charity of the donor’s choice.2 |

Biography* | Obituary: Charles William Culpeper, Sr., of Appomattox, passed away Friday, May 13, 2005. He was born in 1925, in Appomattox County, to the late Luther and Callie Culpeper. He attended and graduated from Appomattox County High School. Charles was a faithful member of Mt. Obed Baptist Church and he later attended a church in Philadelphia, Pa. He served in the U.S. armed services until he received a medical and honorable discharge. He married Vernice Culpeper of Concord and in later years remarried. Charles is survived by seven children, Pamela Culpeper, Charles Culpeper Jr. (Lorna), Michael Culpeper (Mildred), Rita Daniels (Larry), Bruce Culpeper (Maria), Kay Culpeper and Callie Culpeper; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral and visitation service will be conducted from 4 to 5 p.m. today at Community Funeral Home with the Rev. Curtis Elliott officiating. Interment will follow at 5:30 p.m. in Peaceful Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Condolences may be e-mailed to [email protected]. The cortege will assemble at the funeral home at 3:45 p.m. Community Funeral Home directing. |
