DEWEY E. HELMCAMP, JR., 81, of Conroe and formerly of Canyon Lake, Lake Mt. Pleasant and Houston, passed away, April 30, 2007, in Conroe surrounded by his family. He was born May 30, 1925, in Houston to Dewey E. Helmcamp, Sr. and Irene Helmcamp and was preceded in death by his parents and his devoted wife of almost 62 years, Betty Joy CULPEPPER Helmcamp. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, the greatest love he had was his love for his wife and family. Mr. Helmcamp is survived by brother, Juddy Helmcamp and family. Left to honor his memory are also his son, Col. Dewey E. "Trey" Helmcamp III, USA (Ret) and wife Mary of Round Rock; daughters, Cynthia House and husband Larry of Conroe and Carrie Heasley and husband Jerry of Porter; grandchildren, John Helmcamp and wife Jacquie, Dr. Jeff Helmcamp and wife Dr. Jennifer Helmcamp, Scott Helmcamp, Courtney House, Clint Houst, Spencer Heasley and Morgan Heasley; great grandchildren, Madeliene Helmcamp and Hunter Helmcamp. A private memorial service was held on Wednesday, May 2, 2007. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Army Emergency Relief Fund, www.aerhq.org or Habitat for Humanity.3 |

Services will be held at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home. Visitation will be observed from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Services will be conducted by Rev. Roger Brown of the First Presbyterian Church of Crowley, where Mrs. Culpepper was a member.
Born in Estherville, Iowa, Mrs. Culpepper had been a resident of Crowley since 1938. For many years she was an integral part of Culpepper’s Jewelry Store.
In her loving family she leaves her nephew, Peter Nissen; sister-in-law, Lora French Ruess; her niece, Susan Buckley; two granddaughters, Heather Hawkins and Mary Angela Serola, and great-nephews and great-nieces, Donna Chapin, Becky Graf, Joseph Nissen, David Buckley, Annabel Wildrick and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wirt Culpepper and her children, William Wirt, Christine Emily and Charles Curran Culpepper.
Contributions can be made to a local animal shelter or humane society. Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley is in charge of arrangements.1 |
