Subject: Oglethorpe Family of Lincolnshire

I have traced the marriage of Richard Oglethorpe to the town of Althorpe: Richard Oglethorpe to Sarah Starkey 26th January 1699. I have found a Richard Oglethorpe born to Francis Oglethorpe at Epworth 18 July 1675 and also a Richard born to Francis at Epworth 8 March 1672 (probably died as a baby). I have also found a Franciscus Oglethorpe who married Jana Savile 2 Nov 1640 at Rothwell Yorkshire, who in turn was born to Francisci Oglethorpe 27 Sept 1607 at Rothwell Yorkshire. This Francis Oglethorpe married Elizabeth Marshall at Rothwell Yorkshire on 26 June 1598. My listing also has other children born to these people if you require, plus it also looks like Richard Oglethorpe is related to the famous General (Lord) James Oglethorpe. If you can get a copy of the book "Miscellanea Genealogica et Heraldica" it lists Oglethorpe Family Trees of the 1584-5 period (pages 224, 225 & 226). Hope this helps...

I am the granddaughter of Calvin C. Carmack. His father was John William Carmack, son of John Carmack and Nancy Edwards. Nancy and John are both buried in Linwood Cemetery, Greene County, Arkansas. Their graves are marked. Their daughter in law, Lizzie, wife of Frank, is also buried there, and she is the one who arranged their burial.

John William Carmack married Susie Baker in Alabama. They had two daughters, the oldest named Sue, cannot remember offhand the second ones name, and two sons, David Herbert and Calvin Cheetum or Cheathem Carmack. I am not sure when Susie died, but I feel it was around the time of my grandfather's birth, in 1887, in Paragould, Greene County, Arkansas. David was born in Alabama.

David and Calvin are both buried in Hillsborough County, Florida. David married Annie Hamilton in Greene County, Arkansas. Calvin married Annie Rose Bumgarner in Greene County, Arkansas.

It is my understanding that John William Carmack remarried to a T. L. Scroggins in Greene County, Arkansas. That he left the two boys with an aunt who died in her sleep. That John never returned for them and they were raised in a series of foster homes. It is also my understanding from David's daughter that John William and T. L. Scroggins had a son, that would have been a half-brother to the two above boys.

I have never been able to find where John William, Susie or T. L. Scroggins Carmack are buried.

The family can be found on census records in Georgia, Alabama and Arkansas and possibly eventually in Florida.
