Aaron HAHN

Son of Martin HAHN (1797-1873) and Eve KIMMER/KIMRA?.

Aaron HAHN , son of Martin HAHN and Eva Caroline KIMRA, was born on 27 Oct 1829 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, USA, (1, 2, 3) died on 9 May 1864 in Spotsylvania Court House, Spotsylvania County, Virginia, USA, at age 34, (1, 4) and was buried in 1864 in Cabarrus County,North Carolina, USA Henkelite Cemetery (5, 6)

General Notes: 1850 Census shows his age as 20, which would make his birth year 1829-1830. Plaque is next to stone for parents. Noted events in his life were: *He has conflicting birth information of 27 Oct 1824. (6) *He has conflicting birth information of 31 Oct 1829 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, USA. (2, 7) *He appeared on the Household of Martin Hahn census on 11 Nov 1850 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, USA. (8) Aaron, male, age 20, farmer, born Cabarrus County, North Carolina *Military: Confederate States Army - North Carolina 5th Infantry Company B, from 8 Aug 1862 To 9 May 1864. (9, 10, 11) Enlisted at Wake County, North Carolina as a Private on 08 August 1862 at the age of 33 in Company B, 5th Infantry Regiment North Carolina, residence Cabarrus County, North Carolina. Wounded on 01 July 1863 at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Returned on 01 September 1863. Killed Company B, 5th Infantry Regiment North Carolina on 09 May 1864 in Spotsylvania Court House, Virginia.

Aaron married Mary "Polly" L ROWLAND, daughter of Thomas ROWLAND and Elizabeth UNKNOWN-ROWLAND, on 16 Apr 1857 in Stanly County, North. 1828 in Stanly County, North Carolina, USA (14). Other names for Polly were Polly L ROWLAND HAHN, and Polly L ROWLAND.

General Notes: On the 1850 Stanly County North Carolina Census, there are 5 Rowland households. One for Isaac and Nelly Rowland has a daughter named Polly who is 8 years old, making her birth year 1842. One for Thomas and Elizabeth Rowland has a daughter named Mary L (Polly common nickname for Mary) who is 22 years old making her birth year 1828. Another for Mathias and Ann Rowland has a daughter named Mary A, age 7, birth year 1841.

I have made the assumption that Thomas and Elizabeth are the parents of Polly L Rowland and John Archie Rowland, based on these 2 children marrying siblings in the same Hahn family, and the ages of the 2 children fitting with these marriages, and these 2 children being in Thomas! household in the 1850 Stanly County North Carolina census.

7. Linda Hawn Setzer, Ancestry World Tree, (www.ancestry.com & [email protected]), date and location. The family records of Henry Hahn are in Rowan and Cabarrus County, N.C. A note in the records indicates that Henry came to that area with Johannes Hahn, whose family history begins at The Johannes Hahn Family History. A direct connection between the two families has not been found, however. Anyone who can make the link is invited to write to Linda Setzer.

Hahn descendants met at 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 6, 1979 in the Bethel (Bear Creek) United Church of Christ to dedicate a monument in memory of Henry Hahn and wife, Christina Simmons Hahn, whose remains were interred there in 1825. This memorial service was a project headed by Lester Moose and is a result of years of research and study.Years of research and study were also done by George Franklin Hahn.
