Hi Linda

I think this page is the best. I too have been looking for Hahns I Know most of mine were from Adams County Indiana. Mary L Hahn daughter of Rachael C. Hahn Daughter of Jacob Hahn and Barbary Hahn. My Grandmother has always told us that Mary L. Hahn's mother was not married when she gave birth to Mary, but Mary's father might be a Beaston. If you have any info that might help me find out the truth, or any of your readers PLEASE let me know.

GOD BLESS YOU FOR THIS PAGE

Lana Lee :) :) :) BIG THANKS

Hi Linda

My family has also been told that Rachael Hahn gave birth to Mary L. Hahn Jan 16 1877 in Jay County Indiana. Mary married Alexander Otto Smith of Adams County Indiana on Dec. 12 1896. We have always been told a boy named Beaston was Mary's father but not been able to prove it one way or another. I also haved tried to find Rachael C. Hahn to see if she every married and raised Mary, or if she was left with her grandfather. I found Mary living with Jacob Hahn on the census records in 1880 Jefferson township Jay county Indiana. Rachael was not on this census record. If you can help I would be very greatful. Thanks so much for trying.

Bless You For Your Help.

I was reading page 7 and I have a correction or two for you. Andrew Jefferson Hawn is my grandfather. He did not donate the land for Hawn State Park, but he did plant many of the trees there. His second wife Helen donated the land. His first wife Mary was my grandmother. Andrew Jefferson Hawn's father's name is Samuel L. Hawn, not Christian. I believe Gary, who wrote the paragraph I am correcting, is my cousin, the son of Andrew Jefferson Hawn Jr. my father's brother.
Note: Monica sent her grandfather's death certificate as proof of his heritage. "It doesn't mention that he suffered a cerebral hemorrage just prior to his admittance to the State Hospital. The pain from it caused him to lose his mind. They only put his middle initial on the certificate. However, notice his father's name, Samuel. I have not located my father's notes. The information I gave you before is what my father told me." Monica wrote in an email dated Nov. 2, 2008.

Monica, I opened my database today to make the corrections you wrote me about. I cannot find Andrew Jefferson Hawn. There are several Samuel Hawns.I do have a Samuel Hawn b. 1842 who had a wife, Mary, no children, and they were married in 1867 but I find no other family referenced in your email. Can you enlighten me with dates and names? It may be that you have some missing links. I'd like lists (with dates of birth and death, children, etc.) as far back as you can go.

I do find an Andrew Jackson Hawn and several William Hawns but all born in the 1800s, one in 1901 but no death date.

Thank you so much for the information. May I use your name? I am working on an update and would like to use your comments. Did you see this on Rootsweb? I appreciate your interest

.

To: Linda,

Yes, you may use my name. I actually found your website by typing in Andrew Jefferson Hawn in the search line. My father William has passed away, but I know he did a lot of research of the family tree. I hope to find his notes sometime here at the house. If so, I will pass them on to you. Thank you for your website.

Dear Linda,

I am continuing to work on my family history of Henry Hawn (under 115) on you web page. He moved to Indiana in 1813-14 and lived on adjoining farms with John Hawn and Charles Wesley Hawn. I am assuming that they are related due to their proximity to each other. They were living in Jackson Country (probably Clark Country at that time- it was later subdivided). Do you have any information on this Henry, who was the son of Johanne Jacob Hahn?

thanks, Kenneth Hawn

Hello again Ken,

It's so good to hear from you. I have entered your new address in my address book so I can notify you as the Hawn pages are updated.

I am so sorry I have nothing new to share with you about your Hawns. However, there seems to be a resurgence of interest in this family and I already have lots of information to add to my current update. Something may very well turn up in the course of my additional research and if so I will certainly pass it on to you. And I will notify you when the updates are ready.

I will tell you that in my records Henry spells his last name Hahn; Sampson Hawn had a son Henry b. 1826 and lived in Missouri. He had several sons, among them John and Charles, last name Hawn. Be careful in your research that you are working with the right Henry. Duplicate names are one of the problems in researching the Johannes family.

Thank you for writing. I hope you will continue your research and let ME know if you find anything more!!!

Linda

Linda,

I'm not finding any evidence that my Henry Hawn is related to North Carolina tribe or the Pennsylvania tribe. It seems that they have tried to make the connection to him also, but I don't know how. The information that I obtained about him shows that he came from Virginia. Let me know if you come up with something different.

Regards, Ken Hawn

Ken, I couldn't find anything under 115. It's somebody else entirely or I'm looking somewhere else entirely from where you are. But tell me again which Henry Hawn you're looking for. I've got 2 in NC, one in Texas and six others who are listed as Henry Hahn, with an "h" intead of a "w".

Ken, I found two. Go to sites.rootsweb.com, fill in the search blank, you'll get a bunch of Henrys, then there will be some search blanks at the bottom that allow you to put in a location of death and a spouses name. I'm attaching one of the pages I found. If you'll go to http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=rdrhude&id=I1128 you can find the other. Both say his wife was Barbara Hunt and they had several children.

Sorry, that's all I have. He's not in my database. Maybe you can write to the two submitters of these databases. [email protected] and [email protected]

This is the Henry Hawn who came to Southern Indiana in the early 1800's. He lived in Washington county. I believe he was born about 1793 and his wife's name was Barbara. His tombstone has the spelling "Hawn". I'm sure either he or one of his ancestors changed it from "Hahn" at some point. The census said that he came from Virginia.

My grandfather Jason Lee Hinson was the son of Maniza Reap Tucker Hinson. I don't have records in front of me so I'll say she was either the dtr. or granddaughter of William and Daly or Dorothy Hahn Reap. Dorothy's headstone isa one of a kind at St.Martin's Lutheran church in Stanley Co., NC I'm just getting back into genealogy and I will visit again, for sure! Thank you for all your wonderful work.
