Just came upon your website. Have been doing family history work over the past three tofour years. I have information regarding Nannie Hevrin Hawn. Your information shows her married in 1861, I have found that she was born in 1861. I show Aaron Madison Hawn, born March 12, 1851, son of Alfred Hawn and Elizabeth Caroline Whitener to be her spouse.Maybe we can compare sources and share information. My grandfather is Rochester Hawn, my mother's father. Look forward to hearing from you to
h Paul KippBless you my child: For you have done great and wonderous things. I am the great great grandson of Joshua Hahn, that you have on your webpage. Where in the world did you get all his information, I live in Gainesville TX and could not get past his probate papers.
Henry Hahn is buried in Cooke County at Union Hill Cemetery.
You have Joshua dying on September 9, 1859. In the probate papers, his doctor presents a bill where he treated Joshua for about 12days. The treatment stops on September 11, 1859. I do not know where he nor margaret are buried.
Joshua had one child with Margaret: a daughter named Syrena b. July 24, 1846, Pike County IL.
When Joshua died Henry and Margaret were co-admisitrator of the estate. The first-family children in Illinois sued to have Henry and Margaret removed. (From other papers in the court house, Henry was one smart cookie.) The estate was finally settled with the property being divided into to parts. The first half was divided equally between Syrena and the children of the first marriage. The second half was given to Syena. However, the Civil War is going on and the State steps in and claims that portion going to the childen living in a state in rebellion again Texas.
Margaret married William R. Truelove March 25, 1860. Truelove filed for custody of Syrena. Apparently Margaret and William Died soon there after.
On December 8, 1861, Syrena (13 years olds) married James O. Rowland. We believe him to be in his 50's. Rowland sold all of Syrena land.
She later shows up as Syrena Campbell. Meanwhile, unbeknowst to Roy Rogers, Preston Lawrence Leach and Nancy Elizabeth Adkins came from Anderson County, Tennessee, to Collin county, Texas, in 1859. They brought 11 children and had three after they got to Texas. Of the 14 children, 11 have descendants living today. There oldest child was Charles Monroe Leach, my great-grandfather. Charles Monroe married and had two child survive. They moved fron Collin County to Gainesville, where he was a master cabinetmaker. His wife, Matilda Wetsel, became ill and Charles hired (you are not going to believe this) Syrena Campbell as a housekeeper to take care of Matilda and the two boys. Matilda died January 31, 1882.
Charles married the housekeeper June 17, 1882. Charles and Syrena had two sons and a daughter to survive. A third son died an infant. Felix Homer Leach is my grandfather. Carlos Otto Leach married, but was killed in a hunting accident. He had no children Vivian married, but had no children.
[email protected]I found the letters from people researching Hawn/Hahn/Haun/Honn very interesting. My ancestors (Samuel Hahn & family) grew up near Taneytown Maryland. I have found documents that suggest that Samuel had three siblings (Abraham. Joseph, & Sarah). I have reason to believe they wereorphaned when the boys were entering there teens. Samuel (and maybe othe rfamily members) left Maryland 1n 1840 and settled in Randolph County,Indiana. In 1953 Samuel and his wife and children left Indiana and settled in Trenton Township, Henry county, Iowa.
There may be other people researching Hawn/Hahn etc, that may tie in to the family I have listed. If so, they may contact me vie e-mail [email protected] I think you are doing a great service to those of us who are looking for our ancestors.
Dale Leon hawnHi, I found your e-mail on roots web. Wondering if you PA Hahn could have lived in Amity Twp., Berks Co.? I have my Catherine nee DeHart married to a ValentineHahn. Hi Linda,
I have been researching my grandparents, both from Catawba County. My grandfather's name was Robert L. Hamilton. The first US census that I have found him in, is the 1880 census of Catawba Co. He is shown to be living with Jacob P. Hawn and wife Francis J. He is 7 years old and is listed as a nephew. O fcourse the 1890 census is not available, so the next time I found him was in1900, at which time he is married to my grandmother, Minnie Travis.
Jacob P. Hawn is listed as 31 years old in the 1880 census which would make his date of birth about 1849. Marriage records show the marriage date of Jacob P. Hawn and Fanny Travis as March 1877.
My question for you is this: If Robert L. Hamilton was a nephew of Jacob P.Hawn, do you have any records for this HAWN family that could help me unravel this mystery. I can't find any census records to indicate who the siblings of Jacob P. Hawn were.
Of course, the nephew relationship could have been with the wife, and not Jacob.I have strong belief that Robert's mother was a Sallie/Sarah C(or E.) Hawn ,born about 1845 and a possible sister to Jacob. The 1900 census shows a Sallie C. Jones living with my grandparents in Catawba Co and is listed as his mother, age 55, putting her birth about 1845. Knowing how careless the census takers were, my belief is that the name Hawn, sounding like Jone, it got listed as Jones. I have found a Sarah E. Hawn in the 1860 census, listed as 15 years old, putting her birth as 1845 also. The letter "C" and "E" could have sounded alike also. She is living with a Sarah Hawn, 36, birth about 1824, and being the head of household.
Any information that you could give me would be greatly appreciated. I have been putting off a trip to the Catawba County Library and the Register of Deeds Office in Newton.
I am sure that there are persons in the Rhodes Room in the library that are knowledgeable about the Hawn, Hamilton, Travis, and Treffenstatt families and could also help me. Since I live in Archdale, NC, and about an hour and a half drive, I want to find as much information as possible before making the trip. I think that the trip is about due.
Thanks again for any help that you might be able to give me. Even if there is no relationship to the Hawn family, I have enjoyed researching this family and have been to your site on numerous occasions and have been fascinated each time. Although I may not be related, I feel attached.
Sincerely yours,I found your web site and was thrilled this is the Hahn line I needed. My great grandmother was Emma Hahn daughter of Daniel Hawn and Melvina Smith. I would be happy to share her information with you. My name is Dianna Kime 1500 wood St. Valparaiso, IN 46383

(Check on Google and you can find one.)Hi,
I was interested in you query. I am looking for Welkers and we have gone backto Adam Welker, b. 19 Feb 1771. We do not know if he was born in Germany or inNC. We do know our Welkers are German and he was living in Surry Co., NC and died in Henry Co., IN. There has to be a connection. Adam had children James,Adam Jr., Sarah Ann, and William, but who knows, maybe he had an Anna Mariaalso. We had always heard that there were Welker brothers who came from Germany together. Do you know anything else about the Welker? I would love to hear from you. Greta Bergan in Phoenix, AZ

(You're in luck. This issue of the Hahn pages has two. Check the table of contents. Barring that, check with Google.)Hi Linda.
Hope all is well with you and Hickory.
Ive got a question maybe you can help with. A while back *summer maybe*I downloaded off the net, the "Ancestral History of Oliver DariusHawn". I didnt do anything with if for several months, and now that Iam interested in contacting the author, I can't remember where I gotthis, nor is the authors name any where in it. You are mentioned! So,maybe you know who wrote it.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Jim Teague
(I wrote that but I don't remember for whom. Oliver Darius was my grandfather and his son was my uncle, Oliver Darius Jr., commonly called O.D.What is your interest?)
Mmmm, strange. Well, maybe this is from YOUR web site. I guess I will haveto be more conscientious about documenting where I get things especially if I am going to let so much time laps. I have no clue as to the author of this. There is a note though that says it was created by Family History Composer,Cygnal Software. Is that what you use???
My question was to pursue the Rink Family. I am kin to Mary Catharine Rink's sister on the Huffman side of my family. And was hoping to get some moreinformation about George Rink and family. Any leads??
Jim
Linda,
Outstanding job ! I hope you do this for a living. I was not very close to my fathers side of the family but I understand that his father (Lloyd Baxter Hahn Sr. b 1910) was originally from Albermarle, NC and around Catawba County. I will try and get my great grandfathers full namein the next few days but thought I might e-mail you first.
Again great job !

Do you know who the ancestors were of Anna Maria Welker? I have an AdamWelker, b. 19 Feb 1771, in NC or Germany. His children were all born in RowanCo., NC and for a while after they left NC they lived in IN. I do not havean Anna Maria, but I would think they were related. My grandfather was John Arthur Welker. He was born in Idaho and then to Arizona.
Let me know what you think.

My name is Russell Hawn. My gr.gr.gr.grandfather was John(Jonathan)Hawn. He was born 11/10/1794 in Lancaster Co. Pa. I have no clue as towho his parents were or who his siblings may have been. He left Pa. with part of the Knoop family and went to Miami Co Ohio. He worked for theKnoop's Distillery . John was a Quarter Master in the War of 1812 in Lt.Col.Alexander Regt. He married Catherine Saylor or Sailor 4/12/1826.John then either bought land from Phillip Sailor( father of Catherine)or Phillip gave it to John. John and Catherine had about 160 -180 acres.
They had 16 children:The Hawn family farm was in Northern Bethel Twp.of Miami Co. Ohio. TheSailor or Saylor family cem. was located just west of the Hawn Farm and that is where John and Catherine are Buried. On some of the census records it list Maryland as the John was born in, however , every thing else says John was born in Lancaster Co Pa.
Francis moved to Hartford City Indiana, married Elizabeth Bates Theyhad Albert and Nettie Hawn. Albert married Iva King and Albert Jr.Norman and Margaret. I found your site after doing a search on Dogpile. I am researching my husband's family from southeast Missouri and hope that perhaps you can help me. His grandfather was Roy L. BOHNSACK son of Frederick A. BOHNSACK and Maryann / Mary Ann / Mary Molly / Molly Mary HAHN b.1867 d. 1942 Would you perhaps know more about the ancestors of Maryann HAHN? Parents?Grandparents? If I could get just a few more names perhaps I could tie his family into all the HAHN research already done for that part of the state. Thank you in advance for any help that you can give me.
