It appears that my line ties in with the Hahns at Christina Yoder. I have learned a lot from your web site and from LDS. One of her daughters, I don't know which yet, apparantly married John Miller.

Linda,

I was reading through the letters that people have written you, and came across the one I ahd written back in Jan 99 with a note that there was a problem with the email. The name on the email was Jeffery Kinder, address: [email protected]. I had requested any information you had on the Hahn line concerning Judah Hahn, who was my ggg-grandmother, i am particularly interested in her husband, Henry Johnson(Cornelius).

But any information I caould get from you on this portion of the Hahn family would be greatly appreciated, by both myself and my grandfather. And of course, if there are any blanks I can help you fill in, I will be more than happy to do so!

Please keep up the GREAT work! I love browsing your web site, and visit it often! Thank You!

Dear Linda

- I am writing what I am well aware is a long shot but you seem to have more Hahn information than anyone else that I have contacted.

While researching my wife's family, Lusby, we found the Lusby family stone of her gg grandparents in Congressional Cemetery in Washington, DC. On one side was listed Peter Hahn, b 12/19/1885 and d 8/25/1941 and that is all I have on him. My primary interest is any data on his wife whose name may have been Kate. If anything rings a bell, I'd love to hear. Thanks for you trouble.

Dear Linda,

I am interested in finding some connecting links--I have very little on my paternal grandmother's family -- Hawn. Do you have some suggestions?

Mary Wallis Doggett
[email protected]

Hi Mary,

Boy, have you opened a can of worms!!! I assume you have seen my web page? Did you find any clues there?

If not, I suggest you find out more about your grandmother, such as her birthdate, location of birth and parents. Write to the county courthouse where she was born and ask about a copy of a birth certificate. If you get a few names, that will lead to others and perhaps more information than you can handle. Where do you live or where were you born? That might be a clue in itself. If you can give me your grandmother's name and birthdate, that will be a start. Many of our family went to Indiana and Missouri in the 1800s, and have spread out from there. I haven't found any Ohio Hahns to be part of ours but it just may be because I'm missing a link.

I'll be glad to help if I can. There are lots of genealogy sites on the net and I am a member of GenServ, which has databases from all over the world. If you visit their web page, http://www.genserv.com/gs/genssite.htm, or to RootsWeb, https://sites.rootsweb.com/, you might have a good start because you can do a free search on an individual name.

Good luck on finding what you need. Write again if I can help.

Linda

From: John Doggett

Linda,

I have searched through the Mormon data base in Salt Lake City and found some leads but have not yet followed up on contacts.

My father was Hawn James Wallis 1904-1985--son of James Drury Wallis, Jr 1863-1945 and Lieuvery Edlaid Hawn 1865-194??--daughter of Thomas Hawn and Harriet Yount all born in Bollinger County Missouri.

My family always used the above spellings for the HAWN and WALLIS. The submitter for some limited entries in Salt Lake City date base was: Donna Dellinger, W2738 Cty HH, Malone WI 53049.

But her spellings did not conform to our tradition. I realize that according to some sources all Hawns and Hahns were earlier Hons--is that your theory? I will use your suggestions and any information that you have will be appreciated.

I am researching a Catherine Ann Hahn born in Aiken SC whom married John"James Wiley Stokes born in Charleston SC. I have a Piercy in NC that ties with Hahn. Can't seem to find documentation to prove Catherine was Hahn. Some believe it is Yon! My dad remembers her from comming from the Black forest of Germany. Catherine and John went to Springfield, Bay County, Florida and I have the death certificates on both but again, I don't have her maiden name on any papers. Does any one know of any SC Hahn's or did they go to Hickory NC ,(also Burke and Caldwell NC) where my Piercy line is. appreciate any help!

Subject: Hahn research

From: "A B KITTELMAN" <[email protected]>

Hello Linda,

Thank you for the information that you send by e-mail to all who are researching the Hahn (Hawn and Hohn) name. I have been on this subject (Hahn surname) for along time and it slowly is coming together with the researched help you and others do.

I have some questions that have come up and you (Linda) seem to be the one who may be able to help. My grand father is Arthur M Hahn (b: who was born in Missouri to the parents of Franklin Hahn (b: Feb 14, 1877)and Mary Ellen Kaiser

Franklin Hahn's parents are Andrew Jackson Hahn (b: Aug 31, 1841)and Sophia Grounds (b: August 2, 1845).
The parents of Andrew Jackson Hahn are Solomon (Absolom) Hahn (b: June 8, 1813) and Polly Bollinger (b: 1819).
The parents of Solomon Hahn are Abaham Hahn (b: March 15, 1790) and Barbara Wiess (b: JUn 26, 1790).
The parents of Abraham Hahn are Anthony Hahn (b: Abt. 1759) and Caroline Ficht (b: Abt. 1763).
The parents of Polly Bollinger are Henry Bollinger (b:1792) and Susannah Hahn (b: 1796). The parents of Susannah Hahn are Joshua Hahn (b: 1754) and Elizabeth (Eve) Henkel (b: May 3, 1759).
The parents of Joshua Hahn are Johannes Hahn (b: Jun 12, 1712) and Elizabetha Margaretha Forester (b: 1715).
The parents of Johannes Jacob Hahn (b: Abt. 1682) and Ottilia Eichenlaub (b: 1690).

Now the question is after reading your last up date of Aug 7, 1999 are the families related to each other and could they be related to me? I'm trying to bring these fact together so I can honestly say that I related. From what I've read about Johannes Hahn in your E-mail message then I've come to beleive that I might be related to some or all. It would be interesting to see if this hold true and with a little help from you helping to put these fact together I might be able to say I have good information. The second question is were there a few articles written by people in Missouri who might have put all these people together at one time or another. From what I have gathered they orginated in Germany, Lincoln NC, Lancaster PA and Cape Girardeau and Bollinger County.

Again thank you for your research and drop me a line and let me know what you think or have found out about the above people.

I recently learned that the actual log cabin that Jacob Hahn (b. 1776 at Lincoln, Catawba, N.C.) lived in, still exists and stands in good condition here in Indiana. Thank you. I do not have the full story yet, but my parents recently saw the cabin, took pictures, and talked with the man who owns it. There is a plaque on the cabin that states in so many words - that Jacob Hahn born in 1776 etc., owned/lived in this cabin. I think it even gives his birth place in N.C. and everything!
We found out about this through a relative, at a family reunion over the weekend - that has been doing research on the Foxworthy's for many years. Since Thomas Jefferson Foxworthy married Rachael Perlina Honn, she was interested in the Honn's as well. I believe a librarian in some small town library where she was doing research told her about the cabin.
The man who currently owns the cabin, by pure chance, overheard the person who owned it - telling someone that he was going to bulldoze it over into a nearby ditch or something. And so, the present owner asked if he could have it, and remove it from his property. It may be that the former owner, had no idea how old the cabin was, because of the siding that was on it, or just didn't care, was plain stupid, etc., the list is endless. However, the present owner has removed the siding and reassembled the cabin on his own property, and my parents said it is absolutely fantastic! I have not seen the pictures, but plan on seeing them soon and I will gladly scan the best one/s and e-mail them to you. When I go see the cabin for myself, I will get a more detailed account of this fascinating and rare gem, and pass it along to you.

Hi,
I am looking for family history on my husband's side. His great grandfather was William Hahn. He was married twice, but have no name of first wife. The first five children in the article below were from his first wife. Do you think there is a connection with you?
Thanks,
Kathy [email protected]
William Hahn, a respected resident of Pierce County for the past twelve years and of this city for five years passed away Monday evening. He was sixty years, ten months, and twenty-two days old. The deceased was afflicted with diabetes for many years. This disease was complicated toward the last by a virulent carbuncle which undoubtedly hastened the end. William Hahn was a native of Germany, coming to America thirty-eight years ago at the age of twenty-two. He first located in Clinton County, Iowa and later was a resident of Carroll and Sac Counties. In 1895 he moved to Pierce County, and engaged in farming. Five years ago he moved to Pierce and engaged in business. He was the father of eleven children of whom ten are living namely Edward, Bertha, Gusta, Rosa, Emma, William, Louisa, Mary, Emil, and Minnie. Five children live here and five away. Edward Hahn arrived here from Bristow on Tuesday, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Klockner of Sac County on Wednesday, and two daughters, Mrs. Bertha Klindt and Mrs. Gusta Busse were expected form Iowa last night. Another daughter resides in Montana and could not be reached in time for the funeral. Services will be held at the Congregational Church this afternoon, April 4, at 2 o'clock by Rev. I was interested to see that your Johannas Hahn was first in York Co., Pa. I am a descendent of a Michael Hahn who was born sometime in the 1740's in York. I have never been able to find out who has parents were, but some records seem to indicate that his name was Johann Michael Hahn. He had a son named Joseph who was born in Pa around 1770. Then they moved down to Tygart's Valley, Virginia (now West Virginia) where his son, Samuel was born.
They then went back up into Fayette County, Pa. They eventually wound up near Cincinnati, where Michael and one of his son's (possibly the eldest, Paul) were killed by Indians in 1792.
Since Michael was born in York at the same time that your Johannas was there, I'm wondering if they were related and how.
Have you come across Michael in your research? Any information you have would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Linda. I will check out the web sites you suggested.
I actually started my research about 12 years ago, but it got put on the back burner because I was busy working and raising a grandson. I retired two weeks ago and I am so eager to get back into it full time. I'll let you know if I figure out where Michael fits in. Thanks again.

Linda,
I don't know where the Catawba River is, but I have a German ancestor who settled in Surry Co., NC. His name was James Aaron Ritter, b.1758 in Germany, married in Surry in 1782 to Anne Violet Burcham. I think his Dad came over at the same time, they were listed in the census as James Reter and as Aaron Reter (separate households). If you know of them, or have any leads on how I might find how they came over and stuff, I would be most grateful.
Thanks,
Peggy Snow Ganowsky

I have a record of our Hahn (Hawn, Han ) family connections on my mother's side (RUDY) all the way back to Freckenfeld to a Ludwig (Loudowick) Hawn. He settled in Delaware through Pa. Then his children in our line came to Ohio Colombiana Co. and Miami and Darke Co. Ohio.

Greetings...

I am looking for the paternal parent of a boy put up for adoption roughly 40 years ago. I found your page in alta Vista, while looking up the name "Baby Boy Hahn". These are largely all the details to go on. I can get more precise birth dates if you or anyone you know, might have any leads.

Thank You for your time.

Daniel Baker. (For adoptees seeking information on birth parents, please see the "Adoptions" link Cyndi's%20List)
