AMANDA TOWNSHIP


SAMUEL ANDERSON, son of Samuel and Catharine Anderson, and brother of Robert, Hugh, William and Thomas, was born in Washington County, Pennsylvania, in the year 1822. He married Mary, daughter of John and Mary Swancott, whose children are Elizabeth, William, Michael J. and Mary. Mrs. Anderson was born in Butler County in 1817. They have one child, M. Jane Anderson, born in this county, December 4, 1867.

WILLIAM BICE was born in Columbiana County in the year 1824, and came to Allen County with his parents, William and Mary Bice, in 1839. His wife's parents, Dye and Mercy Sunderland, came from Miami County in 1822. Mrs. B. was born in this county in 1836. Her children are Frances, Orlando, Amarilla, Ann M., William A., Mary, Mercy N. and Andrew W. Bice. Mr. Bice's brothers and sisters are Mary, Samuel, Jeremiah, Charles, Granville and Thomas. The children of Dye and Mercy Sunderland are Daniel, James, George, Mary J., Elizabeth A., Isabel, Martha E. and Tabitha. Mr. Bice has held the office of Township Trustee.

CYRUS H HOOVER was born in Trumbull County, March 5, 1822. His parents, Joseph and Caroline Hoover, came to this county from Trumbull County, in 1833. Mrs. Hoover's parents are Charles and Elizabeth Post. She was born in Knox County, August 7, 1827. Their children are Libbie E., Mary E., Charles A., Kate P., Bryant G., Minnie L., Florence, and Mattie.

JOHN KEETH was born in Van Wert County, August 27, 1844. Mary Electa Partello was born in New Haven, Huron County, April 23, 1852. They were married December 23, 1869. They have two children--Albert Guy, born in Lima, December 29, 1870, and Lillie, born in this county, June 10, 1872. Mr. Keeth's father, Johnzey Keeth, came from Maryland to Van Wert County, Ohio in 1832. His mother, Priscilla (Arnold) Keeth, came to Van Wert County from Fayette County, in 1835. They came to Allen County in 1854. Their children are, Rachel E., John, Samuel, Anderson, Jacob A., Mary, Albert (deceased), Emma (deceased), and Francis M. Mrs. Keeth's parents, Washington A. Partello and Sophia (Stewart) Partello, came to this county from Huron County, in 1859. Their children are Sarah, Mary E., Clara, and Frank. Mr. Keeth has been justice of the peace.

HENRY MILLER, son of Jesse and Elizabeth Miller, was born in this county in 1830. He is brother of Solomon, Catharine, Jacob and Josiah. His wife is a daughter of James and Susan Baber, who came to Allen County in 1837. Mrs. Miller was born in Ross County, in the year 1833.

D B MITCHELL, son of Matthew and Hannah Mitchell, was born in Richland County in the year 1820. Robert, Kate, Simeon, John, Torence and Hannah are his brothers and sisters. He married Mary, daughter of Enoch and Joanna Maryman, and sister of Mrs. Lettie Butterfield. Mrs. M.'s parents came to this county in 1874; he came in 1854. Mrs. M. was born in Crawford County in 1823. They have two children--Lettie and Matthew.

CHARLES GRAHAM POST, son of Charles and Elizabeth Post, was born in Richland County, December 31, 1839. His wife was born at Columbus, Ohio, April 24, 1844. Their children are Adelaide, Harold R., Vernon B. and Corwin H. Mrs. Post was Maria Rockwell, daughter of Elkanah and Mary Rockwell, whose children are William, Jerome, Dewitt, Maria and Bell.

ISAAC B POST, son of Charles and Elizabeth Post, was born at Shelby, in Richland County, June 21, 1837. His wife is a daughter of John Eunice Perry. She was born in Van Wert County, August 7, 1851.

LEONIDAS POST, son of Charles and Elizabeth, was born in Knox County in the year 1832, and came to this county with his parents at the age of ten. His wife, Eliza Jane, was born in Allen County in 1830, and is a daughter of Samuel and Mary Stewart. They have three children--Samuel A. (born 1856), Charles C. (1858), and Edward G. (1867). Mr. Post has held the office of Township Treasurer.

JAMES SUNDERLAND's parents, Dye and Mercy Sunderland, came to Allen County from Montgomery County in 1820. James was born in this county in 1827. His wife was born in Delaware County in 1830. Their children are, Jacob, Henrietta, Charles, Mercy E., Mary E., and Jennie. Mrs. Sunderland is a daughter of Jacob and Nancy Baker, who came from Delaware County in 1838, and whose children are Rachel, Susan, Jacob, David W., William A., Thos. B., Levi C., and Jemima.

JOHN F TONE married Julia Ann Andrews. Their children are Albert Lyman, Ellen, Aurilla, Emma Percy, John Frederick, Franklin Christopher, Charles Gustin, William Fremont and Mary Rose. Mr. Tone was born in Grafton County, New Hampshire, in the year 1822. His parents, Christopher and Aurilla Tone, never resided in this county. Mrs. Tone was born in Delaware County, Ohio, in the year 1825. Her parents are Lyman and Percy Andrews. She is sister of Sylvester, William, Sophronia, Mary, Simon, James and Delia.
