DR. FRANCIS G ARTER, son of Simon and Elizabeth, was born in Columbiana County, April 2, 1838. His wife is a daughter of Samuel and Charlotte McCune, and was born in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, March 9, 1847. They have one child, Zelmae McCune. Dr. Arter's brothers and sisters are, Belinda A., Maria H., Daniel A., Samuel E., Anthony H., Aaron B., Cordelia A., Jerutha C., Simon M., and David L.

FRANCIS ASHTON, son of Francis and Elizabeth Ashton, was born in Lincolnshire, England, March 9, 1831. He married Mary, daughter of Abraham and Magdalena Lantz. She was born in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, Jan. 9, 1833. They have five children: Libbie M., May R. A., John R., Fannie B. and Hattie B. Ashton.

MATT. ATMUR is a son of Levi and Louisa Atmur. He was born in Champaign County, in the year 1837. His wife, Martha, was born in Auglaize County, in the year 1840. Their children are John C., William J., and F. L. Atmur. His brothers and sisters, living, are Marshal, Mary A., J. H., Elizabeth, Lucy, Emmie, William, Eliza, Martha and Hattie.

M L BECKER was born in Mahoning County, in 1845. He is the son of the Rev. F. C. and Mary Becker, and is the brother of the Rev. H. A. Becker, D. R., C. F., M. L., Sarah A., and Harmon M. Becker.

WM. M BELL is a son of George and Elizabeth Bell, both deceased. Mr. Bell was born at Urbana on the 9th of March, 1824, and came to Allen County in 1864. His wife was born in Lewis County, Ky., whence her parents, Matthew and Lutresy Cretcher, removed to Champaign County, Ohio. Mr. Bell's children are Frank, Harry C., William, Caddie and Kittie.

MRS. JANE BLAKE was born in Columbiana County, 25th Aug., 1816. She is the daughter of William and Jane Blackburn. Her mother (whose maiden name was Armstrong) died in 1827, and the next year her father married Miss Rebecca Cullay. In February 1835 the family came to Allen County. Mrs. Blake's children are Jennie, William B., Emeline, Mary Emma, and Annie E. Her father's family are named as follows: Children of the first wife, Jane, William, Margaret, Eliza, Mary and James (twins), Emeline, Adelia, and John; children of the second wife, Thomas J., Ada, Lucinda, John Washington, Martin Van Buren, William Cullay.

WILLIAM C BOGGS, son of John and Hannah, and brother of John N. and Charlotte, was born in Bartholomew County, Ind., Jan. 9, 1840, and came to this county in 1870. His wife, Miriam Jennie, was born in Hamilton County, Oct. 29, 1839. They have one child, Carrie. Mrs. B. is a daughter of George and Martha Catt, who, for their wedding tour, emigrated from England. Mrs. B.'s brothers and sisters are John J., Alfred B., M. Hattie, M. Jennie and M. Lou.

JOHN M BOND--In 1841, then only five years old, Mr. B. was brought to this county by his parents, E. and Catharine Bond. They came from Summit County, where John M. was born. He married Sarah A., daughter of James and Sarah Franklin. They have no children living. Mrs. B. was born in this county in 1838. Mr. Bond has six sisters: Angeline, Philena, Charlotte, Harriet, Jane and Marinda. He has been constable of Perry Township, and member of Lima City Council.

WM. McKELVY BOONE, and his wife, Mary E., are natives of Pennsylvania. He was born Oct. 26, 1834; she on the 2d of Sept. the same year. Their children are Anna J., Mary E., Frank A., Flora B. and Fanny. Mr. Boone's parents are William and Rebecca Boone. His brothers and sisters are Ranslo, Narcissa (deceased), Martha E., Mary E., John H., Adam C., [illegible] D., Francis, Rachel, Orlando and Mercy E. (deceased).

CALVIN S BRICE was born in Denmark, Sept. 17, 1845. His wife was born at Mansfield, Ohio, Aug. 15, 1843. Their children are Stewart Meily, Helen Olivia, Margaret Catharine and Thomas Kirkpatrick Brice. Mrs. Brice was Olivia M., daughter of John Henry Meily and Catharine (Fisher) Meily. Mr. B.'s parents are Wm. Kirkpatrick Brice and Elizabeth (Stewart) Brice.

EMBURY W CASTLE was born at Reading, N. Y., on the 5th of October, 1847. He married Mary Johnson, who was born at Ada, Ohio, July 29, 1854. They have one son, Chester C. Mr. Castle's parents are Levi B. and Elizabeth B. His brothers are Asbury B., John C., Theodore O., Emory H.; his sisters are Ellen E. and Olive C. Mrs. Castle is the daughter of S. M. and Margaret A. Johnson, who came from Ada in 1870. She is sister to Ida J., William S., Augusta M., Olive P., Lydia M., and Sarah A.

CLINTON D COLDREN, son of James M. and Abigail, was born in Delaware County, on the 27th of August, 1831, and came to Allen County in 1851. His wife is a daughter of Archibald and Mary Frizell.

JOHN S COOKE and Eliza Ann (Taylor) Cooke have seven children, named as follows: Lizzie Priscilla, James William, Julia Adda, Mattie L. M., Samuel Jefferson, Sadie Anna Fidella and Joseph Edson Cooke. Mr. Cooke was born in Clinton County, Aug. 19, 1823. His parents are William and Elizabeth Cooke. Mrs. C. is a daughter of James W. and Elizabeth Taylor, and was born in Warren County, Sept. 13, 1824.

T E CUNNINGHAM was born in Wayne County, Ohio, Oct. 31, 1830. In January, 1832, his parents, William Cunningham and Anna (Ewalt) Cunningham, removed to this county from Knox County. He married Elizabeth S. Hyatt, who was born at Hyattstown, Md., March 1, 1832. Her parents, Philip and Rispa Hyatt, removed from Maryland to Knox County, Ohio. Children of T. E. and Elizabeth Cunningham: William H., Blanche, Harold, Thomas N., Louis H., and Theodore. Children of William and Anna Cunningham: Anna S. Tingle, W. H. Cunningham (deceased), Elizabeth H. Watters, Clementine C. Brice, John N. Cunningham, Sarah V. Morris, and T. E. Cunningham. Children of Philip and Rispa Hyatt: Luther Z. Hyatt, Ann S. Holland, Susan Chapin (deceased), Hammond Hyatt, Joseph H. Hyatt, Elizabeth S. Cunningham, Columbia Hyatt (deceased), John T. Hyatt (deceased), Caroline Cassel, Olive Smith, Columbus D. Hyatt and Maria Tarr.

ELIJAH CURTISS, M.D., is the son of Abner and Persis Curtiss, and brother of Daniel, Maria, Persis, Sarah, Mary, Anna and Joel. He was born in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, on the 11th of April, 1812. He married Flora F., daughter of Elijah and Elizabeth Hanchet. Their children are Charles L. and Mary E. Mrs. Curtiss was born in Herkimer County, New York, on the 21st of June 1818. She has a sister, Elizabeth; and one brother, Hiram. Dr. Curtiss has practised medicine continuously for 40 years, and has been Coroner of the county.

CHARLES DAVIDSON and his wife, Eliza A. Rice, were both born in Knox County, Ohio where Mr. Davidson's parents still reside. Mr. Davidson was born 21st June, 1840; Mrs. Davidson, on May 18, 1840. They have four children--Amanda B., Horatio F., Ellie May, and Maud Kedgie. Mr. Davidson is a son of Wm. C. and Louisa Davidson, and is the brother of Jesse, Henrietta, Whitmer, Catharine, Susannah, Nelson, and Condie. Mrs. Davidson is a daughter of Jonathan and Elizabeth Rice, and sister of Henry F., F. D., Sarah C., Mary E., Isabelle, Lemuel, and James W.

BENJAMIN C FAUROT was born in the State of New York on the 13th of October, 1829, and came to Lima in July, 1853. His wife is Helen A., daughter of Luke and Samantha Wells. Mr. Faurot's parents are David and Eleanor Faurot. They came to the county in 1861. His brothers and sisters are, Catharine, Harriet, Frederick, Gideon, Martha, Jane, Matilda, Margaret, George and Arthur. Mrs. F. has eight brothers and sisters.

FREDERICK FAUROT was born at Utica, N.Y., September 13, 1831, and came to this county about twenty years ago. His parents, David and Elenor, came to the county in 1861. He married Emma J., daughter of Jacob and Susannah Wyant. She was born in Champaign County, April 16, 1842. Their children are Benjamin C., Minnie Belle and Harry. He is a brother of Catherine, Harriet, Benjamin C., Gideon L., Martha J., Matilda A., George S., Arthur K and Margaret E.

GEORGE S FAUROT was born in Crawford County, O., Dec. 19, 1839. His parents, David and Eleanor Faurot, came to Allen County, from the State of New York, in 1863. Their children are Catharine, Harriet, Benjamin C., Frederick, Gideon L., Martha J., Matilda A., George S., Arthur K., and Margaret E. Mrs. Faurot is Annie, daughter of Charles and Hannah Barrow. She was born at Hull, England, Oct. 4, 1842. Children of Charles and Hannah Barrow: John S., James G., Charles H., Thomas E., Annie and William E. Children of George S. and Annie Faurot: Hattie F. (deceased), Caddie B., and Frank S.

ELIJAH D GAMBLE was born at Shelby, Richland County, September 9, 1830. His wife was born in Maryland, February 13, 1838. They have two children, Ida I. and Flora A. He is the son of John and Elizabeth Gamble, and the brother of Hannah, James, Charles, Harvey, Eliza, Israel, John H., Cynthia, and Henry W. Mrs. Gamble was Kate Penner, daughter of Peter and Rebecca Penner, and is the sister of John, Mary, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Margaret, William and Addie.

ISAIAH GARRETSON, son of William and Elizabeth, was born in this county June 7, 1843, and on the 13th of February, 1873, was married to Barbara Ann Jenkins, daughter of Reuben and Eliza Ann Jenkins. Her father was born in Virginia, her mother in the District of Columbia, and she was born in Licking County, Ohio, March 14, 1850. Children of Wm. and Elizabeth Garretson: Eli (died Oct. 19, 1874), William H., Sarah (Mrs. Thos. Marshall), Lamenta (Mrs. Wm. McPherson), Mary Ann (Mrs. Isaiah Bayes), Isaiah, Elizabeth S. (Mrs. Francis M. Mauk), and Cinderella (Mrs. John J. Metsker). Reuben and Eliza Jenkins have nine children: Benjamin F., Barbara A., Dewitt C., David W., Charles G., Eliza Ann, Mary, John O., and Katie.

L F GOEBEL, born in Hardin County, December 3, 1851, was brought to this county in 1852, by his parents, John and Mary Goebel. Mr. G. has a sister, Mary A., and four brothers, John G., Andrew N., Joseph and Philip. His wife is a daughter of Silas and Jane Ogan, who came to the county in 1828. Mrs. G. was born February 2, 1848.

CALVIN HALLADAY is a son of Edmund T. and Caroline Halladay. His wife, Isabel, is a daughter of Thomas and Ann Kincaid. Their children are Edgar B., Fannie K., and Leila. Mr. Halladay was born at Suffield, Connecticut, June 4, 1832, and came to Allen County in 1848. His brothers are, Horace, Albert, George and Edmund, and he has two sisters, Clara and Carrie. Mrs. Halladay was born in Columbiana County, November 3, 1833. Her brothers and sisters are Robert, Charles, J. W., Elizabeth, Margaret and Sarah.

JOHN P HALLER held the office of County Surveyor nine years, was County Auditor four years, and has served as City Engineer of the city of Lima. He was born in Franklin County, Penn., Feb. 9, 1827, and came to Allen County with his parents, Samuel and Elizabeth Haller, in 1839. Children of Samuel and Elizabeth Haller: Jacob B., Samuel, Elizabeth, Catharine and John P. His wife is Elizabeth, daughter of Christian and Elizabeth Koser, whose children are Susan, Jacob, Henry, Catharine, Elias, Leah, Elizabeth and Sarah. Mrs. Haller was born in Franklin County, Penn., Dec. 31, 1831. Mr. Haller's parents resided successively in Lancaster and Franklin Counties, Penn., and Licking, Fairfield and Allen Counties, Ohio. Mrs. Haller's parents still reside in Franklin County, Penn. Children of John P. and Elizabeth Haller: Sylvia Ann, Emma Elizabeth, Samuel Christian, Jane Golay, William Tell (deceased), and Henry Sanford.

JAMES HARPER is a son of Jacob and Elizabeth Harper. He was born in this state, Sept. 1, 1813. His wife is Sarah, daughter of Ralph and Ruth Cherry, who came from Union County in 1844. She was born in Fairfield County, Dec. 19, 1820. They have four children, Ralph C., Wilson S., Alice A., and John E. Jacob and Elizabeth Harper had nine children: Miller, David, Mary, James, Elizabeth, Joseph, William, Nancy and John. The children of Ralph and Ruth Cherry are Sarah (Mrs. Harper), Elizabeth, Minerva L. and Ruth.

EDWARD D HOMAN was born in Clermont County, Jan. 18, 1845, and came to Allen County in 1869. His wife is a daughter of Cyrus and Jane Pierson, who came from Upper Sandusky in 1858. Mrs. H. was born in Wyandot County, Feb. 20, 1855, and is one of ten children, vis.: Ann, Henry, David I., Esther, Emma J., Mary M., Laura, Belle, Ella and Selena. Mr. J.'s [sic] parents are Absalom D. and Eliza Homan, and his brothers and sisters are Sarah, Hannah, Leondest, Lucy, Abner, Lucinda B., Charles, Philip, Ida and Laura.

J A HUEY, son of Joseph and Elizabeth Huey, was born at Pittsburgh, Pa., Dec. 28, 1832, and came to Allen County in 1858. His wife was born at Columbus. Their children are Emma, Lizzie and Ida. Mrs. Huey was Hattie Johnson, daughter of Chester and Elizabeth Johnson. She has two brothers, Demarias and Henry. The brothers and sisters of Mr. Huey are William, Mary J., Sarah (deceased), Margaret, Daniel, Elizabeth, Martha, Emily, Sarah, Ida and Uretta.

J N HUTCHINSON, son of A. C. Hutchinson, was born in Monroe County, in 1845. His brothers are M. J., A. C. Jr., and R. L. He has one sister, Clara O.

JAMES IRVINE was born at Jamestown, Pennsylvania, November 28, 1842, and came to Allen County in 1863. His parents are William and Sarah J. He has three sisters living--Mrs. Eliza Clapp, Mrs. Lettie Slichter, and Mrs. Amelia Chrysler. His wife is a daughter of Robert McKelly. She was born at Upper Sandusky, August 28, 1846. She has two brothers living--Robert A. and James McKelly.

LEONARD W JACKSON, son of Elijah and Hamintal Jackson, and his wife, Amanda, daughter of Jacob and Ann Booze, were both born in Knox County, the former on July 14, 1836, and the latter on Feb. 4, 1838. They have one daughter, Jessie Leota, and one son, Charlie W. Mr. J.'s brothers and sisters are Mary Elizabeth, Samuel H., Freegift, David St. Clair, Henry A., John R., and Adelia E. Mrs. J.'s brotners [sic] and sisters are, Morgan, Sarah A., Eliza, Henry, Christopher Alexander, Catharine, Demas, Aminda, Andrew Jackson and Elizabeth.

GEO. W JAMES was born in Fayette County, Penn., 7th September, 1838, and came to this county in 1865. His wife is Melissa, daughter of James and Delila Stratton. She was born in Jefferson County, Ky., September 23, 1843. Their children are Clarence S., George J., Edwin F., Effie D., and William E.

GEORGE JAMESON, and Mary E., his wife, were both born in Wayne County--he on the 15th of November, 1839, she on April 25, 1840. His parents are Joshua M. and Rachel Jameson, and she is a daughter of Samuel and Sabina McClure. Mr. Jameson has two brothers, George and Abbon. Mrs. Jameson has one brother, Alfred McClure, and three sisters, Jemima, Susan and Caroline. They have one child, Charles E.

ELIAS H JOHNS was born in Fauquier County, Virginia, June 11th, 1834. His parents, Elias and Adaline, removed to Ohio in 1852, and came to Allen County in 1866. Mr. J. was engaged in the war of the Rebellion, and when the war closed came to this county, and commenced the grocery business, which he still continues. His wife is Julia A. E., daughter of William and Rebecca Cheney, who came from Marion County in 1864, and whose children are Julia, Samuel, Amanda, Ebenezer, Francis, and Henry. Julia was born in Union County, 7th Nov., 1837. Mr. Johns has four brothers--Thomas, Samuel, Nathaniel, and Lewis, and one sister, Eliza. The children of Elias and Julia A. E. Johns are, Sarah A., Henrietta (deceased), Silas H., and Septa J.

SANFORD M JOHNSON, son of David and Sarah, and brother of Chester, Harvey and Loienda, was born in Genessee County, New York, Dec. 24, 1818. His wife, Margaret A., was born in Adams County, Pennsylvania, Jan. 13, 1832, and is the daughter of William and Lydia M. Faughenbaugh. Mr. J.'s children are Sarah Ann, Mary, Emma, Ida Jane, William S., Chester M., Ollie M., Lydia M., Alfred L., Rosie V., and Carrie. Mrs. J.'s brothers and sisters: Frank, Nicholas, Horatio, Jane, Ann, Caroline, Emma.

THOMAS HENRY JONES, son of Josiah and Mary, and brother of Mary M., Anna C., Josiah E., Martha E., Margaret L. and Gwillim Llewelyn Jones, was born in Llanbrynmair, Montgomeryshire, North Wales, Feb. 18, 1835. His wife, Susan (Francis) Jones, daughter of Ellis and Catharine Francis, was born near Llanidloes, North Wales, Jan. 18th, 1843. They have three children--Ursilla Ann, Josiah Francis and Mary Myfanwy.

PHILIP KEIL, son of Sebastian and Josephine Keil, was born in Germany, July 26, 1842. His wife was born in Germany, in the year 1849, and came to Allen County with her parents, Charles and Mary Humlong, in 1854. Their children are Josephina and Mary. Mr. Keil's brothers and sisters--Sebastian, Michael, Michael Jr., John, William, Mary and Catharine. Children of Charles and Mary Humlong--Eliza, Catherine, Winey, Charles and Amelia.

SAMUEL K KRAUSS, son of Jacob and Lyda Krauss, and brother of Amos, Amanda, Salena, Catharina and Maria, was born in Lehigh County, Penn., August 23, 1839, and came to this county in 1866. His wife is Catharina E., daughter of Morgan and Jerutia Workman, and sister of William P., David Alonzo, Joshua, Mary, Sabrina, Barbara, Anna, and Amanda. Mrs. K. was born in Ashland County, April 10, 1847.

FRANK A M KREPS married Sarah T., daughter of Adam Weaver. Their children are Frank, Walter, and Carrie Virginia. Mr. Kreps was born in Franklin County, Penn., 13th March, 1839, and came to Allen County, in 1874. His wife was born in Allegheny, Penn., 8th November, 1839, and is sister to Jackson, Mary, and Caroline. Mr. Kreps is a son of Jacob F. and Elizabeth Kreps, and a brother of Catharine, George, John, Adam, David, and William.

W S LIPSETT was born in Lima on the 15th of June, 1836. His parents, Joseph and Mary, came from Warren County in 1832. His wife was born in Holmes County, March 9, 1840, whence her parents, John and Esther Long, removed to Allen County in 1850. Their children are Mary Emma, Ellen and Cora. Mr. Lipsett has one brother, John B., and one sister, Mary S. Mrs. L. is one of a family of eight children: Maria, Jacob, Adam, Sarah, George, Susan, Lewis and John. Mr. L. is a member of the Lima City Council.

GUSTAVUS F MARMON was born at Zanesfield, Logan County, September 25, 1844, and came to Allen County in 1873. His parents were Robert M. and Sarah J. Marmon, both deceased. His father was from North Carolina, his mother from West Virginia. The former died at Zanesfield, Ohio, October 17, 1849; the latter died at Clinton, Illinois, July 9, 1866. Mr. Marmon has four brothers and sisters, three of whom are living--Eliza B. (married S. C. Adair, of Piqua, February 14, 1858); James Y. (married Annie E. Sanford, both of Lima, on 29th September, 1870); Martin M. (died at Zanesfield, July 26, 1843), and Jennie S. Mr. Marmon's parents were married at Zanesfield, Ohio, November 1, 1837. His mother's name was Sarah J. Young.

MATTHEW H McCOLLOUGH was born in Amwell Township, Washington County, Penn., on the 29th of April, 1818. In 1835, then a boy of seventeen, he came with his parents into the wilderness of Allen County. He is the son of James and Margaret McCollough, and is a brother of Elizabeth, Samuel C., Zenas B., Aurelia and Eunice. He has two sons, George Marquis and John Calvin. Mr. McCollough married Sarah J., daughter of John and Nancy McKibben, who came from Wayne County in 1834. Mrs. McCollough was born in Wayne County, July 19, 1829. She has one brother, John D. McKibben.

N W McCORMICK is from Fairfield County, where he was born on the 7th of Nov., 1834. He settled in Allen County in the year 1856. His parents, William and Mary R., came from Franklin County in 1871. Married Martha L., daughter of James and Martha Cunningham--the former from Licking County (1833), the latter from Portage County in 1836. Mrs. McCormick was born in this county, Nov. 1, 1842. Their children are George K., Levisa A., Bertha E., Bessie F., Mary G. and Martha R. Mr. McCormick has two brothers and four sisters: Noah S., Albenia, Floretta, James T., Sarah J. and Eliza Ann. His wife has two brothers, James R. and Thomas, and two sisters, Mary and Emma.

JAMES M McKINNEY's father, Thomas, was born at Warren, Trumbull County, in 1812. His mother, Rebecca Hadsell, was born at Hartford, Connecticut, in 1815. She removed with her parents, in 1821, to Trumbull County, Ohio, and was there married to Thomas McKinney in 1836. James M. McKinney was born in Trumbull County, March 16, 1837, and in 1838 the family came to Allen County. On the 10th of Oct., 1861, James M. McKinney was married to Rachel A. Holland, who, with her twin brother, Thomas B., was born 1st March, 1845, in Bath Township. Their children are Lillie Viella, born 31st July, 1862; Thomas A., born 20th October, 1864, died 2d November, 1865; Netta T., born 27th December, 1866, died 29th July, 1868; and Nellie Maud, born 20th June, 1874, deceased. Mr. McKinney has five sisters and four brothers, all living: Lydia E., Alvin Y., Joseph W., Mary J., Aurilla F., Daniel A., Caroline M., Henry B., and Martha M. Mrs. McKinney is a daughter of Barton A. and Lydia Holland. Her father was born in Fayette County, in 1822, and came to Allen County in 1842. Her mother, Lydia Osmun, born in Warren County in 1820, came to Allen County in 1843, and was married to Mr. Holland in 1844. Mrs. McKinney has two brothers and one sister living: Thomas B., James C., and Lorena A.

LUTHER MELANCTHON MEILY has been Probate Judge of Allen County since February, 1870. He was born in Richland County on May 2, 1842. His parents, John N. and Catharine Meily, brought him to this county in October, 1845. Judge Meily has one son, Richard Clarence, born October 2, 1871.

JOHN MELHORN was born in York County, Pennsylvania, 13th Feb., 1819. He married Margaret Bell, who was born in Champaign County, Ohio, on the 10th of April, 1823. Their children are Elizabeth Bell, Mary C., Hester J., Anna B., Edgar L., and Minnie Kate. Mr. M. is the son of George and Hester Melhorn, and the brother of William, Sarah, Caroline, George, Catherine, and Henry. Mrs. M. is the daughter of George and Elizabeth Bell, and is the eldest of their family. She has one brother, William M., and two sisters--Eliza Ann and Jane.

ALBERT M METHEANY, whose father, Richard Metheany, came to this county from the southern part of the state in 1840, was born in Lima, June 24, 1845. His wife, Anna, was born May 11, 1846, and is the daughter of Perry W. and Elizabeth Levering, who came from Pennsylvania in 1834. They have one child, Lydie A., born Feb. 18, 1871. Mr. M. has eleven brothers and sisters: Charles A., John M., Emma E., J. Augusta, M. Selina, Clara A., Annetta E., Eldon L., William L., Rolliston R., and Addie L. Mrs. M. has one brother, John M. Levering, and one sister, Eliza.

JOHN MEYER--In the year 1839, Mr. M.'s parents, Peter and Margaret, brought him to America, from Switzerland, where he was born, 16th of June, 1828. His wife, Elizabeth, daughter of Christian and Magdalena Saurer, was born in Wayne Co., Aug. 8, 1836. They have five children--Elizabeth, William, Matilda, Bertha and Edward. Mr. M. has five brothers--Abraham, Christian, Peter, David and Daniel, and one sister, Elizabeth. Mrs. M. has two sisters, Mary and Christina, and one brother, John.

WILLIAM MILLER was born in Germany, March 27, 1831. His parents are George J. and Anna Margaret Miller. His wife is Mary Elizabeth, daughter of Bonhart and Clara Bruther. She was born at Louisville, Kentucky, on the 9th of August, 1832. The children of William and Elizabeth Miller are Daniel B., Catherine, Frederick W., Caroline, George C., John L., Lewis G., Louisa P., Elizabeth R., Alexander Humboldt and George W. Mr. M. has five brothers--Philip, Godfrey, Michael, Jacob and Charles, and three sisters--Elizabeth, Margaret and Catharine. Mrs. M. has a sister, Harriet and one brother, John. Mr. Miller has held the offices of constable, assessor and member of Lima City Council, and is now sheriff of Allen County.

SALATHIEL D MILLIKIN is a son of Robert and Dorcas Millikin. His father died March 26, 1852. His mother came to this county, from Richland County, in 1853, and died Oct. 3, 1863. Their children are Thomas E. (deceased), John H. (decd.), Roxalina M., Salathiel D., Edwin R., Robert D. (decd.), Alice A. (decd.), and Albert. Mrs. M. was born in Richland County, Sept. 21, 1846. His wife, Nancy J. Rightly, was born in Steubenville, April 17, 1851. Their children are Joseph W., George L., and Alton W. (decd.). Mrs. M. is a daughter of Joseph and Ruth Rightly, who came from Columbiana County in 1862, and whose children are Sarah A., John F. (decd.), William J., Mary A. and Nancy J. Mr. Millikin served two years as a soldier in the war of the Rebellion. He volunteered Nov. 19, 1863, at the age of 17, and was a member of Company F., 4th Ohio Calvary, 3d Brigade, 2d Division of the 17th Army Corps. He was engaged in the battle at Kenesaw Mountain, Atlanta, Moulton, Selina and other places. His brother, John H. Millikin, was in the same company. He received a wound over the left eye, from a buckshot, which broke the skull, and which has never been extracted. Mrs. Millikin's brother, John F. Rightly, was a member of Company E, 52d Reg. O. V. I., 4th Brig. 3d Div. 14th Army Corps. He died March 20, 1865, from the effects of a wound received a few days before.

ISRAEL T MOORE married M. Selene, daughter of Richard and Esther A. Metheany, who came to the county in the year 1834. Israel T. is a son of Andrew P. and Elizabeth Moore, who, in 1832, came from Butler County, Ohio, where Israel T. was born, Feb. 9, 1831. His wife was born in Allen (now Auglaize County), Nov. 14, 1843. Their children are Stella A., Harry-Metheany, Ina S., and Nellie E. The children of Andrew P. and Elizabeth Moore are Margaret A. (deceased), William, Israel T., Henry A., Hugh (deceased), Wesley (deceased), Wesley S. (deceased), Clark B. (deceased), Silas W., and Elmira. Richard and Esther Metheany's children: Charles A., J. Milton, Emma E., J. E., Eldon L., William L., R. Rolliston, and Ada L. Mr. Moore has held the following public offices: Assistant Marshal for Ninth Census of the United States (1870); Lieutenant and Captain, Company D, 54th Regiment O. V. I.; and Major and Lieut.-Colonel of same regiment.

JOSEPH MORRIS was born December 28, 1844, in Clarbeston Parish, Pembrokeshire, South Wales, Great Britain, and came to Allen County in June, 1866. His father's name was Joseph Morris. His mother's present name is Hannah Roberts. He is a brother of Morris J., John, Thomas, William, Philip, Margaret, and Jane E. Mr. Morris' grandfather was a soldier in the English army in the war against the French under Napoleon Bonaparte. Joseph and Morris J. Morris were Federal soldiers in the war of the Rebellion. Joseph was taken prisoner at the battle of Franklin, Tenn., and confined five months at Andersonville. Mr. Morris was educated in Wales and in the state of New York. At the age of fourteen he taught school in Cattaraugus County, N.Y.

JACOB MOSER, Secretary of the Board of Education of Lima, is a son of David and Anna, and brother of Mary, Elizabeth, Rosine and John F. He was born in Switzerland, April 13, 1835, and came to this county in 1860. His wife is Elizabeth, daughter of Isaac and Catherine Neuenshwander. She was born in Wayne County, on June 28, 1838. Their children are Emma, Bertha, Calvin and Albert. Mrs. M. is the sister of Mary, Ulrich, Isaac, John, Daniel, Kate and Mary.

THOMAS J NASH, son of John and Jane Nash, was born in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, May 4, 1834. His wife, Harriet A., daughter of Vinal and Harriet N. Baker, was born at Bath, Maine, June 6, 1839. They have two children--Mary E. and Vina J. Nash.

HENRY C NEFF, born in Marion County, June 20, 1846, came to this county when only fourteen years old. His parents, John G. and Catharine, came two years later. He married Miss Jennie M. Mauk, daughter of Michael and Margaret Mauk, who came from Muskingum County in 1853. They have two children--Burt L. and Blanche M. Mrs. N. was born in Muskingum County, Sept. 27, 1850. Her brothers and sisters: Alva W., Stephen W., Francis M., Nancy A., Sarah E., Mary E. Mr. Neff's brothers and sisters are Princess Olive, Alice L., Esther A., Howard L., and Harvey T.

SAMUEL NEISE was born in Ashland County, Ohio, August 30, 1827. His wife, Johanna, daughter of Darius and Maranda Eader, was born in Frederick County, Md., 29th May 1830. Their children are Maranda E., Mary A., Clifton S., Charles O., and Frank M. Mr. Neise's parents, Peter and Elizabeth, came to this state from Lancaster, Penn., in 1826.

DAVID D NICHOLAS son of James and Mary, was born in Sugar Creek Township, Allen County. His parents came to the county in September, 1833. He has two brothers and two sisters--Jane E., James, Richard J., and Martha A. Mr. Nicholas has been County Surveyor of Allen County seven years, and City Engineer of Lima six years.

GEORGE W OVERMEYER was born in Perry County, 15th December, 1827. His parents are Peter and Rosannah Overmeyer. His wife, Anna B., daughter of George and Mary Barner, was born in Miami County, July 2, 1836. Their children are Amanda Jane, Sarah Louisa, Charles G., Edward, George B., Anna Kate and Samuel Laird. Mr. Overmeyer settled in Allen County in June, 1850. He has been Auditor of the County four years, has been Mayor of Lima, and Justice of the Peace. In the war of the rebellion he was captain of company G, in the Eighty-first Ohio Volunteer Infantry, two years and three months.

C PARMENTER, Postmaster and City Clerk, at Lima, was born in Green County, New York, May 5, 1831. His wife is a daughter of Daniel and Sarah G. Boyer. She was born at Lima, May 23, 1838. Their children are Robert W., Daniel B., Frank G., George L., William L., Walter S., Ella S., and Mary E. Mr. P. is a son of Winthrop and Sarah Parmenter, whose family are named Mary, Olive, Julia, William, Laura, Adaline, Rufus, Charity, Cornelius, Harvey and Elihu. Mrs. Parmenter's brothers and sisters are Mary E., Nancy M., Clara H., Richard L., George F., Melville T., Laura J., Ida I., and Milton.

WASHINGTON R PARTELLO was born at Cazenovia, New York, April 6, 1824. His wife was born in Huron County, Ohio, March 6, 1825. They have four children--Sarah L., Mary E., Clara B. and Frank C. Mr. Partello's parents, Asael and Phoebe, had eight other children--Stephen, Bishop, Joel, Phoebe, Philip, Lydia, Hiram and Alfred. Mrs. Partello was Sophia W. Stewart, daughter of Ezra and Sarah Stewart. Her brothers and sisters are Orlando, Edwin, Albert, Ellen, Esther, Daniel, Charles and Phoebe. Mr. Partello has been Treasurer of Allen County.

CHARLES E PHINNEY was born in Hudson County, Wisconsin, 31st December, 1846. His parents, Edwin and Phoebe Phinney, came from Massachusetts in 1869. Mr. P. has three brothers--Frank, Edwin W., and Everett B. His wife, Lizzie, daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Howenstine, was born in Pennsylvania. They have one child, Ava M. Mrs. P. has two sisters--Hattie and Rebecca.

HINCHMAN S PROPHET was born at Evasham, Burlington County, New Jersey, Jan. 26, 1836. His parents are John and Catharine. His wife, Frank A., daughter of Judson A. and Eliza A. Beebe, was born at Waldo, Delaware County, Ohio, May 31, 1843. They have three children--Edgar, Fred and Herbert.

DANIEL ROWLANDS was born in South Wales, Feb. 4, 1837. His parents are Rowland Rowlands and Elizabeth J Rowlands. He has one brother, John, and two sisters, Mary A. and Elizabeth. In the year 1858 the family settled in Allen County. His wife is Elizabeth Ann, daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth J. Hanthorn, who came from Perry County in 1829. Mrs. Rowlands was born in this county, Feb. 19, 1842. Her brothers and sisters are Viella B., Thomas S., Francis E., George L., Sarah A. and Howard. Wm. Colvin is her half-brother. Mr. Rowlands' children are John W., Rowland E., Cora E. and Alfred D. Rowlands.

JOSHUA S RUTLEDGE, the only child of Joshua W. and Rachel Rutledge, was born in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, 19th March, 1837. He married Charlotte D., daughter of William L. and Henrietta Walter. She was born in Knox County, 4th March, 1837. They have seven children--Albert L., Therus O., Edward L., Sarah F., Jennie May, John H., and Laura B. The brothers and sisters of Mrs. Rutledge are Mary Jane, Vincent, Rachel Eleanor, Philip, Russell, and Henrietta.

TIMOTHY SHROYER was born in Stark County, 7th Dec., 1834. He married Minerva Hannica, who was born at Berlin, Pennsylvania, 5th April, 1845. They have two children--Ella E., born 21st Aug., 1863; and Miltie I., born 29th June, 1865. Mr. S. is the second son of John and Sarah Shroyer, whose family of twelve children were named as follows: Adam, Timothy, John, Leonard, Rary, George, Daniel, Eli, Anna, Martha, Sarah, and Mary. Mrs. Shroyer has five sisters--Augusta, Sophia, Josephine, Christina, and Phoebe, and one brother, Julius.

DENNIS SULLIVAN, son of Daniel and Mary J. Sullivan, was born in Ireland, March 17, 1853, and came to America with his father's family. His parents came to Allen County in 1861--Dennis came in 1864. His wife is the daughter of John Sullivan, who came to this County, from Canada, in 1871. She was born in Canada, April 28, 1852. Mr. S. has two sisters: Mary and Maggie; and five brothers: Michael, Joseph, Daniel, John and Jerry.

SHELBY TAYLOR, son of Samuel and Elizabeth, and brother of Jason, George, William, Susan, Lydia, Margaret, Eliza, Lewis and Julia, came to Allen County in 1851. Married Mary Jane, daughter of Edward and Eve Williams, who came from Springfield, Ohio, in 1840. Mr. Taylor was born in Champaign County, Feb. 23, 1822. Mrs. Taylor was born in Union County, March 26, 1826. Their children are Leonard, Emma, Etta, Luella, Mollie and Belle. Mr. Taylor has been Clerk of Courts and County Treasurer, and was District Collector of Internal Revenue for six years.

WM. HAMLIN TAYLOR's father, J. G. Taylor, was born in Cuyahoga County, where he now lives. His mother, Laura (Foote) Taylor (deceased), was a native of Massachusetts. His sisters are Emma J. and Elizabeth. Mr. Taylor was born in Cuyahoga County, November 12, 1833. His wife, Melissa J. Thatcher, daughter of Thomas Thatcher and Catharine (Mott) Thatcher, was born at Albany, N. Y., 6th November, 1836. Their children are Laura J., Egbert H., Luther B., Charles R., Jennie M., and Lillian F.

JOSEPH C THOMPSON, son of Nathan and Emma, was born in Montgomery County, June 6th, 1841, and came to this county in 1858. His wife was born in Miami County. She is Sarah C., daughter of John and Nancy Smeltzer, who came from Miami County in 1863. The names of Mr. Thompson's brothers and sisters are John, James, Marshal, Harriet, Susan, Frank and Chrissie. Mrs. T. has two brothers--William and Henry--and a sister, Mary J. They have one son, Marshal S.

ROBERT W THRIFT, M.D., son of James and S-- Thrift, was born in Fairfax County, Va., Feb. 11, 1823. His mother removed from Virginia to Putnam County, Ohio, in 1849. He was married to Miss A. R. Rice, of Ottawa, Putnam County. Their children are Flora, Kate, Robert Wilson, and Mabel. Mrs. Thrift was born in Ashland County, Ohio, May 1, 1834. She is a daughter of Clark H. and Catharine Rice, who removed from Ashland County to Putnam County in 1839. Their children are Mrs. Thrift, Gen. A. V. Rice, Representative in Congress from the Fifth Ohio District, Samuel B., Sarah E., Julia and Clark H., all living except the last. Julia is the wife of the Hon. Joshua R. Sencey, of Toledo, Ohio. Dr. Thrift's brothers and sisters, in the order of their ages, are George W., James H., William H., John Y., Benjamin F., Margaret A., Jane E., Catherine I., Edwin W., and Albert, all living except George, James and Albert. His sister Margaret is the wife of the Hon. George Skinner, of Putnam County. Jane E. married the Rev. Barnes, now of Wood County, and Catharine I. married Mr. Coates, of Leipsic, Putnam County.

JAMES A TURNER has two brothers and two sisters--Wm. P., Geo. T., Mary, and Martha (deceased). In the year 1853, his parents, Geo. L. and Sarah, came to this county from Columbus Grove, Putnam County, where James was born.

W D WALDORF was born in Allen County, Jan. 30, 1854. He and George P. Waldorf are sons of A. B. Waldorf, who came from Trumbull County in 1852.

G J WALTHER, and his wife, are both natives of Germany. His parents are Bennett and Christina Walther. She is a daughter of George and Margaret Miller. Their children are Catharine, Philip, Margaret, Frederick, Leonard, Mary and Phoebe. Mr. Walther came to America in 1854, and settled in Lima in the year 1864.

JOHN E WATKINS was born in St. Louis, Missouri, Sept. 10, 1860. His parents, Thomas D. and Rebecca, came from Cincinnati in 1863. Mr. Watkins has two sisters, Martha J. and Mary E., and one brother, George G.

JACOB D WATT was born in Lima on the 4th of July, 1834. His parents, Hudson and Huldah, came from Champaign County. His wife is a daughter of James and Caroline McGarvey, and was born at Xenia, Ohio. The brothers and sisters of Mr. Watt are Sarah, Ruth, William L., Huldah A., James Hudson, Greenbury H., Samuel L., Mary C., Joseph H. and Emma A. Mr. Watt says: Thirty to thirty-five years ago a large portion of the original town plat of Lima was still covered with forest trees. There were no sidewalks, and many of the streets were obstructed with stumps, logs, etc. When he was a little boy, whenever it was muddy (which appeared to be about half the time), his father was obliged to carry him and his sister to school. "He would carry me to a log or stump, and placing me upon it would go back for my sister. He would then carry her past me to a good resting place and come back after me."

DANIEL WILLIAMS was born in Columbia County, Penn., Oct. 9, 1828. His parents, George and Mary Ann Williams, now deceased, came to Wyandot County about 1835. His wife, Mary Ann Setterfield, was born in Kent, England, June 29, 1930. Their children are W. H., Isabelle, Olive, Stephen, John and Willis. Mrs. W. is a daughter of Stephen and Charlotte Setterfield, who came from England to Hardin County, Ohio, in 1840. She has two sisters, Sarah and Jane.

S A WILSON, son of Samuel and Anna, was born in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, on the 26th of April, 1839, and came to Allen County in 1866. His father's family came three years later. His children are Stephen W., Alice H. and Maggie. He married Emma, daughter of Jacob and Mary Crites, who came from Fairfield County. Mrs. W. was born in this county, and is one of a family of eight children: Stephen, Adaline, Emma, Amaretta, Obert, Sarah, Hates, Thomas. Mr. W. has eleven brothers and sisters: Nancy, McClover, Eliza, Mary, Maggie, Alice, John, Robert, Joseph, Marlow and William.
