EMMANUEL EVANGELICAL CHURCH
I BELIEVE this is the Emmanuel church, although the card only says "German Church." It was mailed at Sylvan Grove and I believe this church is too small to be the German Lutheran Church at Sylvan. But Sylvan would have been the nearest post office to Emmanuel at this time.

The Emmanuel Evangelical German Church was organized in 1893. The congregation built a church five years later; I believe this postcard shows that church.

The original church was destroyed in 1952 by a tornado. In 1957, the church became the Emmanuel United Church of Christ.

The bell from the original church is displayed in the old Emmanuel Cemetery.
