   Effigy of Sir William Hatcliffe

    Sir William died in 1551.
As can be seen by the graphic
on the right his effigy is in
    danger of being erased
    by the ravages of time.

    Sir William is depicted
    in full armour, his hands
    joined in  prayer. Above his
    head are his quartered arms.

    PRESERVATION FUND

    With the invaluable assistance of
Peter Hill, a resident of Hatcliffe,
and the approval of the church
    committee a Restoration Fund is
to be set up to restore the effigy.

Experts have been called in and
we are awaiting the final costing.
