Definition: Hername.
Maiden name and unlisted direct ancestors.

The use of the word, hername, is intended to save researcher’s time.  Often we only have a last name for a Great Grandmother (and sometimes either a Grandmother or a Mother).  If only the maiden surname name is known, but not the surname group to which this female belongs, then using the term, hername, can allow a researcher to click-off the page, with gratitude for the time-saving label.

An easy transition.

Just divide your ancestor list into those females who have an ancestor and those whose parents are still either unknown to you or just, as yet, unlisted in your work.

Hername.  Coined now, here.

First placed into use in 1992 and shared with others.
Thank you for your recent, helpful responses.
