Information:

Startlingly vivid photo of Josiah Blair
Patterson ( 1815-1864) taken in on
the occasion of his mid-war promotion
to 1st Lt. He was born and raised in
Abbeville. His outfit (from Forsyth
County GA) saw more action than any
other ever heard of by the submitter

-- 45+ battles--

and it shows in this shot. He was killed
at Spotsylvania Courthouse, shortly
after Gettysburg in May 1864.
