LUNSFORD QUALIFIES AS
CONSTABLE
April
Term 1868
It
appearing to the satisfaction of this Court, from the certificate of Stephen M.
Glenn, Coroner of the County, that A. E. Lunsford,
has [been] duly and legally elected as Constable of the County for the 10th
Civil District, at the election on the 7th March, 1868, it was
thereupon ordered that the said A. E. Lunsford be allowed to qualify, the said A. E. Lunsford, with Wm Lunsford, Wm
J. Sturdivant, W. A. Wood, and Jo C. Marley, his
securities, came into court and entered into bond as the law requires, which ordered
to be spread upon the minutes in the following words and figures, viz;

We,
A. E. Lunsford, Wm Lunsford,
Wm J. Sturdivant, W. A. Wood, Jo C. Marley bind
ourselves in the penal sum of Six thousand dollars payable to the State of Tennessee,
to be void on condition that the said A. E. Lunsford,
this day inducted in the office of Constable of Lauderdale County, Tennessee
shall faithfully discharge the duties of his office, and make prompt payments
to the proper person, of all moneys collected or received by him by virtue of
his office.

Which
said bond was acknowledged by all the said parties and approved by the court,
and the original ordered to be placed on file.
The said A. E. Lunsford
then took and subscribed to the oath of office as required by law.
