to Patrick and Robert HANNA forever, as of the Castle of Dublin, in free and
common soccage by fealty." This grant appears to be the first mention of the
HANNA name in North Ireland.
(2) 1629, 8 May: The King's letters were issued in favour of "Robert HANNAY,
one of the Esquires of our Body," conferring upon him and upon Thomas MAULE
the lands and mansion of Glancopp in the county of Wicklow.
(2) 1630, 31 Mar: Knighted and created a Baronet of Scotland, and was known as
"Hanna of Mochrum" with the designation "Haredibus Marculis quibus cumque."
(2) 1631, 11 Dec: Made Clerk of the "Nilhelle," Irish Court of Exchequer, for
North Ireland, a newly created office.
