1 NOTE George Hubbard, born in England,
1594, died in America, 1685 , a Representative to the first Colonial Court of Con-
necticut, 1639; Deputy Magistrate, 1652, 1655, 1657, 1660, 1662, 1665. John
Bishop, born in England , 1604, died in Guilford, Conn., January, 1660. He was
one of the twenty-five signers of the Covenant.
George Hubbard, #12277 - 12G Grandfather - (c1594 -Jan 1683) married c1627 Mary Bishop (c1610-73) in Glastonbury, Somerset, Engla nd. She was the daughter of John (-14 Sep 1676) and Ann Bishop, who also immigr ated. George and Mary immigrated by 1633to Watertown, MA and were among that to wn's settlers of Wetherfield, CT in 1635. In 1636, the governing commission ass igned George to survey the boundaries of Wetherfield and Windsor, CT. George re presented Wetherfield on the commission 1638-42(he was fined one shilling for c oming to his first meeting late). In 1638, he also became one of the two Wether field resident authorized to trade with local Indians; 11 years later, George w ould be fined Ð10 for trading a gun to an Indian. In1640, George was granted 19 5 acres at Naubuc Farms, present-day Glastonbury. However, George also appears among the 44 original settlers of Milford, 20 November 1639, for an allotment o f ten acres. George Hubbard was admitted 15 January 1644 tothe Milford church. They moved
to Guilford by 1648, where Mary's parents also settled. George was admitted to the Gilford church 6 October 1650. His name appears on a freeman's list for Gilford c1650-52, and as having moved from Milford. He served eight y ears as a deputymagistrate 1652-66, assembly member 1666-67, and justice 1670. George Hubbard's estate was inventoried 30 May 1683 and valued at Ð564.8.6 ster ling. He was buried in Guilford.
George and Mary Hubbard had eight children: Mary Hubbard (1625-13 Apr 1713) was born in England and married 1647 John Fowle r (-14 Sep 1647) of Milford; John Hubbard (1630-1702) was born in England and m arried 1648 Mary Merriam, with whom's familyhe was fostered; Ancestor Sarah; Ha nnah Hubbard (1637-1717) was born in Wethersfield, CT and married 1662 Jacob Me lyen (-pre1706); Elizabeth Hubbard (1638-) was born in Wethersield and married widower Deacon John Norton; Abigail Hubbard (1640-)was born in Wethersfield and married 14 October 1675 Humphrey Spinning; William Hubbard (1642-84) was born in Milford, CT and married c1663 Abigail Dudley; and Daniel Hubbard (bap 26 May 1644-) was born in Milford and married 17 November 1664Elizabeth Jordan. Sarah Hubbard (1635-75) was born in Wethersfield, CT and followed her family to New Haven Colony. She married Sgt. Richard Harrison in Branford, CT and went with h im to Newark, where they both died.

This agreement on Fi le, made with the consent and approbation of their Mother: Robert Hubbard is to havethe whole Homestade and Twenty acres of Land out of the East side of that Lott upon which his brother George hath built and upon which he doth now dwell. George Hubbard is to have the remainder of the Lott upon which he now lives, b eing about 75acres. And John Hubbard is to have about 17 1/2 acres where he now lives, and the meadow Lott at wongonk, and the one acre of Land at passon chau ge. And Elizabeth Hubbard, their sister, having already received Ð6-10-00 in pa y, is to have Ð13-10-00more in Country pay, to be paid betwixt George and John Hubbard within three years after the date hereof. And the above Robert doth by this Instrument take the care of their mother, and doth bind him, his heirs, Ex ecutors and administrators, toprovide for her and give unto her a comfortable s ubsistance of food and rayment during her natural life, and other necessaries t hat she shall want. I, Nathaniel Hubbard, Sen., of Middletown, in the County of Hartford, being sensible by my great age and weakness through it that my depart ure is at hand, do make and ordain this my last will and testament: I give to m y son Nathaniel Hubbard whatI have given him by deed of gift and Ð10 in money m ore, and 1-2 of my land on the west side the mountain, belonging to the lott my son Ebenezer liveth on. I give to my son John Hubbard what I have given him by deed of gift and Ð5 in money more,and the 1-2 of my land on the west side of t he mountain, belonging to the lott my son Ebenezer liveth on. I give to my son Ebenezer Hubbard what I have given him by deed of gift and 10 shillings more. I give to my daughter Mary what I have givenher by deed of gift and a share in t he remainder of the homelott, so much as with the 1-2 acre already given her to make her part equal in value with her sisters' part in the homelott, except Sa rah; and also a pewter platter which her motherdesigned for her. I give to my d aughter Abigail Ð10-15-00 in money, which is to make her equal with the rest of them, and an iron kettle and an old brass kettle which her mother designed for her.
