Douglass History of Wayne County claims James moved to Ohio in 1826 and the same year went into partnership with J.S. Lake.
In the 1850 census of Wooster the family is listed along with Elizabeth Bretz age 20, and Micheal H. Hemperly age 40. James Jacobs does not list an occupation in this census.
His will includes 160 acres on Livingston County, Michigan and 300 acres in Ingham County, Michigan plus lots 88, 95, 395 in Wooster, Ohio and 5 acres in Rg 13; Twp 15; sec 18.
In July, 1860 he was executor for Ann Eichers will in Wayne County, Ohio.
