Christopher came to America on Ship Patience, Hugh Steel, Capt., 266 other
people were with him. List 146 C, At the Courthouse in Philadelphia, Pa.
Saturday August 1750. With him was his brother Johann Georg. Both boys
spelled their last name (Kettemann). Only passengers who were 21 or over
were on the list. There are a few exceptions were women are listed and in
a few cases, children, but these are limited. We know that a brother Georg
and a sister Catharina were on this ship.

Christopher Keddeman, his patent 85 acres-Red Oak Hill
Know ye that and in Consideration that Christopher Keddeman of Frederick
County in our said Province of Maryland hath due unto him 85 acres of land
within our said Province 19 acres part thereof due into him by virtue of an
assignment for that quanity from George Keddeman it being so much part of a
warrant for 50 Acres granted said George Keddeman by renewment the 10th day
of June 1761 and for the remaining 66 acres being so much part of a warrant
for 70 acres Granted to Said Christopher Keddeman by renewment the 10th of
June 1761 as appears in our Land Office and upon Such Conditions and Terms
as are expressed in our Conditions of Plantation of our Said Province
bearing Date the 5th day of April 1684 and remaining upon record in our
said Province Together with Such Alienations as in them are made by our
further Conditions bearing date the 4th day of Dec 1696 Together also with
the Alienations made by our Instructions bearing Date at London the 12 Day
of Sept 1712 and registered in our Secretary's Office of our said Province
Together with a Paragraph of our instructions bearing Date 15 Th day of
Dec. 1738 and registered in our Land Office.
We do therefore hereby grant unto him the said Christopher Keddeman all
that Tract or Parcel of land Called Red Oak Hill lying in the aforesaid
County Beginning at the end of the 17th line of a Tract of Land called Ivy
Church taken up by Doctor Samuel Stringer the 24th day of Dec. 1731 and
running thence South 14 degrees East 158 perches South 66 degrees East 45
perches; North 412 degrees East 70 perches North 35 degrees West 40 perches
North 80 perches then by a straight line to the Beginning Containing and
now laid out for 85 acres of land according to the Certificate of Survey
thereof taken and returned unto our Land Office bearing date the 4th day of
Dec. 1761 and there remaining together with all Rights Profits Benefits and
Privileges there unto belonging Royal Mines excepted to have and to hold
the same unto him the said Christopher Keddeman his heirs and assigns for
ever to be holden of us and our heirs of the Manor of Conigocheige in fee
and common Sociage by -------- from all maner of Services Yielding and
paying therefor yearly unto us and our heirs at our receipt at our city of
St. Mary's at the two most usual feast in the year Viz. the feast of the
Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saint Michael the Arch Angel by
even and equal Portions the rent of three shillings and five pence sterling
in silver or gold and for a time upon every alienations of the said land or
any part or parcel thereof one whole years rent in Silver or Gold or the
full value thereof in such Commodities as we and our Heirs or such
commodities as we and our Heirs or such Officer or Officers as shall be
appointed by us and our heirs from time to time to collect and receive the
same shall accept in discharge thereof at the Choice of us and our Heirs or
such officer or Officers aforesaid provided that if the claimed sum for a
time for Alienation and the said alienations entered upon record either in
the Provincial Court or County Court where the same Parcel of Land Lieth
within one Month next after such Alienation then the said Alienation shall
be void and of no effect.
Given under our Great Seal of our Said Province of Maryland this

Christopher Keddeman his certificate of Red Oak Hill 85 acres Patented the
4th Dec. 1761 Rent of Annum 3.5 Sterling Charged to the Rent Rolls.
By Virtue of a Warrant granted out of his Lordship's Land Office of this
Providence to George Keddeman of the aforesaid county for 50 acres of Land
bearing date by renewment 10th June 1671 and by him 19 acres is Assigned to
Christopher Keddeman and a Warrant Granted us aforesaid to the said
Christopher Keddeman for 75 acres bearing date by renewment 10 June 1761. I
therefor Certifie as Deputy Surveyor under his Excellency Horatio Sharpe
Esq. Governor of Maryland that I have carefully laid out for and in the
name of him the said Christopher Keddeman all that Tract of Land Called Red
Oak Hill lying in the aforesaid County. Beginning at the end of the 17th
Line of a Tract of Land Called Ivy Church taken up by Doc Samuel Stringer
24 Dec 1731 and Running Thence South 14 degrees East 158 perches South 66
degrees East 45 perches North 42 degrees East 70 perches North 35 degrees
West 40 perches North 80 perches then by a straight line to the Beginning
Containing and now laid out for 85 acres of Land to be held of

At the request of George Fox, the following Mortage was recorded July 9,
1768. To Wit, This Indenture made this day 9th Day of July, 1768 between
Christopher Kitteman of Frederick Co. and province of Md. wheelwright of
the one part and George Fox of the same county and Province aforesaid of
the other part, witnessed that the said Christopher Kitteman for and in
consideration of the sum of 30 pounds current money to him in hand paid by
the said George Fox the receipt whereof the said Christopher Kitteman hath
granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and
sell unto the said George Fox his heirs and assigns all that Tract or
parcel of land called Red Oak Hill lying situate in Frederick Co. aforesaid
beginning at the end of the 17th line of Tract of land Called Ivy Church

1787 between Christopher Kiddeman of Frederick County and the State of
Maryland of the one part and Bastian Naffs and the same County and State of
the other part, Witnesses that the said Christopher Kitteman for the sum of
135 pounds current money to him in hand paid, receipt of whereof is hereby
acknowledges and------sell unto the said Bastian Naffs his heirs and
assigns the following tract or parcel of land situate in Frederick County
being part of a tract of land called "Red Oak Hill" beginning at the end of
the seventeenth line of a Tract of Land called Ivy Church taken for the
said beginning and running thence fourth fourteen degrees East one hundred
and twenty four perches then by a line dividing the Tract North fifty one
degrees East ninety three perches to a stone at the end of twenty six
perches on the fifth line of the said land and with it North fifty four
perches then by a straight line to the beginning containing fifty acres.
Note --on the back of the deed, Christina, wife of Christopher,
relinquished her right of dower.

Christopher's confirmation 1743 says "son of late Jorg FriederichKettenmann and (stiefsohn) stepson of Michael Schwab". Christopher's father died 28 Apr 174 (Christoph was 12 years old) his mother died Jan 19, 1741 (Christoph was 13 years old). At age 14 he was confirmed. Michael Schwab is listed ast a stepfather.
