Member of Pioneer family of County, Grandparents Settled on Present Site and county for many years - Funeral Sunday Afternoon. Lincomb, April 10 - (Special) - Funeral services for Mrs. Norm W. Boyd, who died at 4 o'clock Friday afternoon at her home in Liscomb, will be at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Liscomb Grace Reformed Church. In charge of services will be Rev. Floyd Hinshaw of LeGrand, a former pastor of the church, assissted by Rev. George W. Biersborn. The payer service will be held at the home at 2:30. Burial will be on the family lot in the Liscomb cemetry, & the service at the grave will be conducted by the Liscomb Grumme Rebekah Lodge of which Mrs. Boyd was the last surviving charter member. Altho Mrs. Boyd had been in failing health for over a year, she was able to be up and about the house until the (?) before her death. She would have been 60 years old had she lived until April 30. Pioneer Family May (Meyers) Boyd was one of the most useful & capable women of the Liscomb community. She was active in church, lodge and civic affairs, and was always ready to help whenever help was needed. She was a member of one of the oldest pioneer families of Marshall County; her grandparents, Mrs. and Mrs. Isaac Meyers, with whom she made her home, came to marshall County from Tennessee in 1849 and settled on the present site of Marshalltown. The family moved to Liscomb two years later and were prominently identified with the devel- opment and growth of the town and the community. Mrs. Boyd was a member of the class os 1896, the first class to be graduated from the liscomb school. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd were married February 20, 1901; the ceremony being per- formed by the bride's uncle, J. C. Meyers, mayor of the town. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd lived for a time of farms near Liscomb but moved to their present home, the old James Boyd homestead on the north edge of Liscomb, more than 25 years ago. Besided her widower, Mrs. boyd is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Ed Prochaska and Miss Dilla Boyd - who lives at home. Mr. Boyd's aged father, James Boyd, is also a family member. There are four half brothers: Virgil & Lafe Dryden of Gardiner (Montana), Warren Hutchins of Gardiner (Montana) and Olin Hutchins of San Diego (California). Active Church Worker. Mrs. Boyd was one of the leading members of the Grace Reformed Church & had always een active in all branches of the church work. She was a deacon in the church, taught a Sunday school class, served for many years as the president of the Missionary Society and Ladies Aid Society, and for the past year had been president of the Iowa Classes of the Evangelical Reformed Church. She had been president of the LIscomb Cemetery Association for over 15 years, had served as township chairman of the womens' division of the farm bureau for many years, & had been a member of the county board. She was a charter member of the Liscomb Women's Club, belonged to the Red Cross & was in charge of the work room during the war. She belonged to the Marshall County Past Grand Association, besides being a member of the Liscomb Rebekah Lodge member. Thru her work in various organizations, MRs.
