Log Patty, was 11 years old when the family moved to Tennessee. On the way over the mountains, they had sto pped at a small store, he had seen a small jug, and asked for it. He had cried for it after they left, and his father, Dave rode back and got it for him. One of his granddaughter's, Ruby, still has it.
Dave served in the Civil War for the Union, as a Pvt., in Company D., 2nd Tennessee Cav.. He enrolled September 1, 1862, and was mustered out July 1, 1865 in Nashville Tennessee. He later re cieved a penison for his service.
Dave was working in Polk County, North Car olina, when he met and married his first wife, Mary Melton. They moved to Madis on County, North Carolina, then he moved his family back to Blount County, Tenn essee.
