Charles J. Paxson, 77, Lima, died Monday April 13, 1981 at 5:45 p.m. at paradise Nursing Home, Cloverdale, Ohio. He was born August 25, 1903 in Mercer County, Ohio, the son of John and Clara (Hawk) Paxson, and was married to Lenora Irene Purdy, who preceded him in death August 4, 1980. Survivors include two sons, Carl C., and Charles Dean Paxson, both of Lima; a sister Maude Fox of Van Wert; four grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Earl (Lola) Fisher, of Celina; and one great-grandchild. Mr. Paxson was a retired employee of Ex-Cello-O Corp. near Lima, and was a memer of the Lima Masonic Lodge. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Sifred Westwood Chapel, Lima, the Rev. E. J. Penhorwood will officiate and burial will be made in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima. Friends may call at Westwood Chapel from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. today, and from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday.

CHARLES HENRY PAYLOR

Attended school through 4th grade in Lamar. At about age 17
he and brothers Martin and John moved to the Pacific
Northwest where he worked in logging for a time. Brother
Albert joined them and the four of them owned the steam
laundry in Mt. Vernon, Washington. When this partnership
dissolved he tried farming in Burlington until the depression
at which time he moved his family to Seattle (1928 or 29)
where he worked as a carpenter. For a time during the
depression the family was on relief, but neither Charles nor
his wife reflected the hardship they endured to their
children. Charles prided himself that he always paid his
bills and it was hard for him to charge some 200.00 dollars
worth of groceries. Several years later, however he returned
and paid this bill.
Charles was a hard working, conscientious, strong willed
person who set a good example for his children and passed on
a philosophy for living from which his children could
benefit. He neither drank nor smoked, was not a church goer,
but was a God fearing person and loved to sing the good old
standard hymns.
On Dec. 25, 1961 Charles and Florence spent a very enjoyable
day at the home of their daughter, June Gerring, and that
evening he went to bed never to awake.
