We are unsure of the cause of death of Henry E. Rector; however, we know that he died before the birth of his son, William Henry in 1875.
Henry volunteered for serve with the Union Army on August 29, 1861. He enlisted as a Corporal at the age of 19 with the First Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Cavalry. He was small of stature, 5'7", hazel eyes, light complexion with dark hair. Much of his time in the service was spent with the Quarter Master Unit. Near the close of the war, service records indicate he was promoted to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. Famly records indicate he had attained the rank of Captain upon his discharge. Toward the end of the Civil War, his unit was well into Confederate territory, Macon and Atlanta, Georgia. Soon after the war, he came to Missouri where he bought land and settled in Henry County, Missouri.
He married Margaret Clay. They had three children.
The tombstone of Henry E. indicated that he died April 8, 1876, however, we feel that is in error, as he did not live to see his son William Henry who was born July 7, 1875. Parents: William Seigle RECTOR Sr. and Emeline YATES.

Howard Dewey was known by his friends and family as "Mutt." As the story goes, his friend when growing up was very tall, and Howard was short -- they became Mutt and Jeff ! The nickname stuck with him throughout his life.
Mutt and his family lived on a 240 acre farm where his parents, Will and Kate had lived and raised their family.

Ida's marriage to Jack ended in divorce and she married Edward Omer Graham in 1941. She taught at the Reformatory in Boonville, Missouri before her second marriage. Omer ran a service station and Ida ran the restaurant that was beside it. They had a successful business for many years. The restaurant was a wonderful gathering place for family and friends.

A member of the Blairstown Presbyterian Church, Bill (as he was known by all) served as an Elder.
He and his wife Caroline Belle Stewart, lived in the town of Blairstown in a big and beautiful home across from the church until their health failed and they moved to Pleasant Hill to live with their daughter and her husband.
