Albert Wulf was born on August 13, 1890, to Henry and Katherine Thode Wulf on a farm north-east of Lester, Iowa, in Allison Township. He was the oldest of a family of 11 children. Albert spent his entire life on a farm.

At a young age, he worked as a farm hand for Jake Scholerman and then for August Maurer.

He attended Allison #4 public school. He finished the fourth reader.

He married Maria Knobloch of February 14, 1914, and to this union eleven children were born. Maria was the daughter of William and Fredreke Knobloch.

Albert and his brother Emil rented a farm from the Heagles west Lester, IA in Logan Township. Albert and Maria lived there for 3 years. Their sons Emil and Wilhelm were born on this place. Then he bought a quarter section of land north of Lester in Larchwood Township. Here they put up a set of farm buildings, except the house and old horse barn. At this time they fed a lot of carpenters. Ema, Jacob, Karoline, Amelia and Mildred were born to the family on this place. They lived there until in 1926, when Albert decided he needed more land, as the boys were growing up and they had outgrown this farm. He made a deal on a farm with August Maurer; which was a half section 2 miles northwest of the home place, and moved the family there on March 1, 1926. On March 3, 1926 Maria's father passed away, and it was during this time that the children all had whooping cough, plus on March 25, 1926 a son, Leonard was born. Later, Leah, Lawrence and Marilyn were botn the the Maurer farm.

In April of 1926 because of the tremendous drought, Albert had to buy hay at Hills, Minnesota, which was shipped in by rail. Since they only had a short time to pick up hay, Albert took 2 hay racks. This particular day was very windy and dusty, and as they were crossing the railroad tracks, a gust of wind caught the hayrack, tipping it over and pinning Albert's leg beneath. The horses did not stop, but luckily some railroad men caught them. Albert received a broken leg in the accident, and was laid up all summer. His dad and some friends planted the corn for him that year. Albert's great pride was his straight rows of corn planted with his team.

Albert served as a school director for their rural school for many years. He also served on different elevator boards and on the Farmer's Union Livestock Board.

He retired from farming in 1955

Albert suffered with heart trouble a number of years before his sudden death in the clinic at Canton, South Dakota on July 8, 1960. Albert and Maria are buried at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery, near Lester, Iowa.

Emil A.W. Wulf was born on August 29, 1891 to Henry Wulf and his wife Kate on the family farm northeast of Lester, Iowa in Allison Township. He was the second son born to this union, and remained on the farm where he grew up and helped with the farming.

He attended rural school, Allison No. 4, with his brothers and sisters and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

In 1914, he went into partnership on a farm with his brother, Albert. This was on the Wiese farm 2 1/2 miles southwest of Lester, Iowa.

In October of that year, he met with a very painful accident. It was on a Monday afternoon while grinding feed with a horsepowered grinder Emil stepped on the gearing part of the machine to put some grain into the hopper, the board lying on top of the gear gave way letting his foot down into the gears. The toes of his foot were badly crushed and the fleshy part of his foot on the bottom was nearly torn off. He was taken to the German Lutheran Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, where it was hoped his foot could be saved. His father went with him, and returned home on Tuesday evening. The major toe was amputated, and Emil seemed to be getting along nicely, when the cord in his neck became very sore, and the doctors realized they had tetanus to battle with.

Everything in medical science that could be done, was done, but to no avail. His parents were notified and they were at his bedside until his merciful death and his terrible suffering ended on Thursday morning, October9, ten days after his terrible accident. His body was shipped to his parents home where the funeral services were held the next Monday afternoon.

Emil was engaged to be married to Adalia Mundt of near Lester. He had leased a farm for the following year, 1915, from Charles Klien, where he plannaed to live.

He was a splendid speciman of young manhood, was the idol of his parents and well liked by all who knew him.

Prior to his death, he had taken out an insurance policy fo $2,500.00. This was paid to his parents.

He was the only member of his immediate family to immigrate to America. He first went to the home of some relatives named Gossman, Clayton County, in eastern Iowa. After two yearas he moved to Lyon County, Iowa.

Henry's living quarters for several years on this farm were in the loft over his barn. They were reached by an outside stairway, and were very cozy complete with built in bunks. This is where he endured the great blizzard of 1888.
