(1) His family moved to Crab Orchard, Kentucky.
(1) At age 12 his father died. Up to that time he had not attended any school.
His mother purchased a small farm in Woodford Co., Kentucky and here he first
attended school.
(1) 1799: Went to Lexington, Kentucky and studied medicine with Drs. REIGHLEY and
BROWN.
(1) 1801: Began to practice medicine at Cynthiana, Kentucky.
(1) Elected to the KY legislature.
(1) 1803-1815: A merchant. Purchased goods in Philadelphia twice each year
and rode from his home to Philadelphia and back on horseback.
(1) 1804: Removed to that part of Adams Co., OH afterwards set off to Brown Co.,
OH.
(1) 1807-1809: Elected a member of the legislature from Adams Co.
(1) 1809, 12 Dec: Elected Speaker of the House. On the same day Edward TIFFIN
resigned as U.S. Senator, leaving 4 years yet to serve, and Dr. CAMPBELL was
elected to fill the vacancy.
(1) During the time he was a U.S. Senator, he rode horseback to Washington D.C.
and back to attend the sessions of Congress.
(1) 1815: Moved to Ripley and resided there until his death.
(1) 1820: Presidential elector.
(1) 1822-1823: Served in the state Senate from Brown Co., OH.
