     Ernest Walter Stowell was born on 16 July 1876 at New Zealand; and his birth was recorded in New Zealand.1,2 He was the son of David Stowell and Sarah Elizabeth Day.1 Ernest Walter Stowell was possibly the 'E. Stowell' referred to in The 'Evening Post, 19 November 1904: 'Colonial Inventions. Applications for letters patent, with provisional specifications, have been accepted as under:..E. Stowell, of St. Andrew's, an improved sash-fastener for windows.3,4'

He married Laurie Mabon Scott on 16 June 1904 at St Andrew, Timaru, Canterbury, New Zealand.5,6,7 Ernest Walter Stowell lived between 1916 and 1917 at Pareora West, Timaru, Canterbury, New Zealand; where he was listed in the New Zealand Army WWI Reserve Rolls as a Farmer.8 He was listed as of 'Pareora West' in the Awards, Agreements, Orders, and Decisions Made Under the Industrial Relations Act, the Apprentices Act, and Other Industrial Legislation in 1919.9 He died on 24 January 1941 at Timaru, Canterbury, New Zealand, at age 64.10,11,12 He was buried on 27 January 1941 at Timaru Cemetery, Timaru, Canterbury, New Zealand.13 His estate was probated after 27 January 1941; and he was described as being a farmer of 'Pareora West.14'

He appeared on the census of 2 April 1911 at 177 London Road, Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England, as Head, married 1876, age 52, and he was a Corn Merchant. The household also contained his Wife and three sons.15 He was listed in 'Kelly's Directory of Essex, 1914' in the Commercial Section as 'Lupton Charles, corn & flour dealer, & post office, 177 London road & Park road' and also in the Corn and Flour Dealer Section in 1914.16 He was listed as Charles Lupton, Corn and Flour Dealer, plus Post Office, 212 London Road/Park Road in 1922.
