      William James Crosby was also known as William James "Bill" Crosby.2 He was born on 14 May 1889 at London, England; and his birth was recorded at Hackney Registration district in the June quarter 1889.1,2,3 He married Daisy May Strudwick, daughter of Edward Strudwick and Sarah Ellen Sexton, on 7 November 1917 at St Paul, Woking, Surrey, England; and their marriage was recorded at Guildford registration office in the December quarter 1917.1,4,5 William James Crosby died on 22 April 1949 at London, Ontario, Canada, at age 59.2 He was buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetery and Crematorium, London, Middlesex, Ontario, Canada; and findagrave.com contains the following obituary 'Born in Homerton, London, England to John Crosby and Sarah Raymer...Bill was orphaned at the age of 12 and plucked from a London Workhouse, sold as an indentured servant to a farm in Ontario and eventually joined the Canadian Army. His service during WWI took him back to London where he was reunited with his brother Samuel in Rotherhidhe.
