His parents and five siblings completed the household.4 He appeared on the census of 31 March 1901 at Coxwold, Yorkshire, England, as Son of Robert (Blacksmith) and Jane Burnett, age 20, single, birthplace Coxwold, Yorkshire, and he was an Apprentice Blacksmith, working 'at home'. His parents, seven siblings and his grandfather William Burnett (Retired Blacksmith) completed the household.5 He married Caroline Louise Beale, daughter of James Beale and Caroline Hayden, in 1908 at Hampshire, England; and their marriage, as Louisa Beale and William Burnett, was recorded at Basingstoke Registration district in the June quarter 1908.1 William Burnett served in the Great War and The National Archives contain a British Army WWl Medal Roll Index Card for his service in the Royal Field Artillery, Regimental Number     37103, including the 1914 Star as S/Sgt.6 He appeared on the census of 19 June 1921 at Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, England, as born at Coxwold, Yorkshire, England, in 1880.7 He was retired 'from the Army in the 1920's [and] the family settled with relatives on the Island until they moved to Chertsey where he opened a Blacksmith shop.8' He and Caroline Louise Beale lived between 1930 and 1939 at 9 Lasswade Road, Chertsey, Surrey, England; where they appeared on the 1939 Register.9,10 William Burnett died in 1944 at Surrey, England; and his death was recorded at Surrey North Western Registration district in the March quarter 1944.11

He married Emma Edwards in 1863 at England; and their marriage was recorded at Lewisham Registration district in the September quarter 1863.
