For this work the Government of the Union of Burma conferred on him the coveted Title and Decoration "Wunnakyawhtin".

David Maurice is best known for his work "The Lion's Roar", and anthology of Buddhist Scriptures, the Pali Canon, published both in the U.K. and U.S.A.
He was Vice-President and Director for Asian Affairs of the Universal Buddhist Fellowship, incorporated in the U.S.A. some thirty years ago.
The author died happily in Cairns, Queensland in 1981. His last book, "What the Buddha Really Taught", is not intended to make converts, but to dispel misconceptions, some of them quite fantastic, about the Buddha's teachings. This is an authentic presentation of the Buddha's actual teachings, written in simple, interesting, readable style, and its authenticity is guaranteed by its 124 references to chapter and verse of the Pali Canon.
