      John Thomas Beale was also known as Tom Beale.1 He was born on 2 June 1900 at Winchester, Hampshire, England; and a birth was recorded at Winchester Registration district in the name of John Thomas Beale in the September quarter 1900.4,1,2,5 He was the son of James Beale and Caroline Hayden.3 John Thomas Beale was also known as Sidney Beale.4 He appeared on the census of 31 March 1901 at 6 Middle Brook Street, St Mary Kalendar, Southampton, Hampshire, England, as Sidney Beale, Son, age nine months, born Winchester, Hampshire.3 He appeared on the census of 2 April 1911 at 24 Flaxfield Road, Basingstoke, Hampshire, England, as Tom Beale, age 10, birthplace Winchester, Hampshire, and he attended school.1 He was listed as John Thomas Beale, Service number J51510, on records for British Royal Navy Seamen. The first Ship he served on was HMS Impregnable. The last Ship he served on was HMS Cairo between 6 March 1916 and 9 August 1928.6 He continued to serve on several Ships including HMS Hood, until he was pensioned (2 June 1940), after which he continued to serve (up to the last entry 25 June 1941) until he was released (1 November 1945) from the Royal Navy between 1929 and 1945.7,8
