His parents and four siblings completed the household.6 He was baptized on 4 August 1872 at St George, Colegate, Norfolk, England; as the Son of Ann and William Baker, Compositor, abode St Clements.7 He appeared on the census of 3 April 1881 at Dercham Road, Heigham, Norfolk, England, as Son, age 12, birthplace Norwich, and he was a Scholar.8 He appeared on the census of 5 April 1891 at 95 Dereham Road, Heigham, Norfolk, England, as Son, age 22, birthplace Norwich, Norfolk, single and he was a Commercial Traveller.
